The Young Professionals Network Soirée on Oct. 17th was a huge success, raising $45,000 to support Valerie Fund kids and families! We’re so grateful to our patient speaker, Abigael, for sharing her story with attendees, as well as to our YPN Board for hosting a wonderful event. Special thanks to our Lead Sponsor, The Martin B. Greenberg Foundation, and our Drink Sponsors, Anheuser-Busch and Northern Eagle Beverage, who made the evening possible.

Let’s welcome Valerie Fund Scholarship recipient Kellyn . Kellyn is a junior at Montclair State University, studying nursing. Her experience with Rosai-Dorfman disease and time in the hospital influenced her career path. Having been in a hospital bed herself, she understands the importance of comfort and trust for patients and their families. At this stage in her program, Kellyn is excited to get into the clinical setting.

We are excited for her and wish her all the best! Thank you to those who donate to our Named Scholarship Program so we can help our kids achieve their dreams.

How can you thank the people who changed your life? In establishing The Valerie Fund, the Goldsteins didn’t just start a donor-funded organization to bring pediatric cancer care to New Jersey; they created a new model of care that incorporates psychosocial services to better support children and their families during their treatment and beyond.

Sue & Ed Goldstein established The Valerie Fund in memory of their daughter, Valerie Goldstein, providing 50 years of hope and healing. Now, thousands of Valerie Fund kids look to The Valerie Fund as their second family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Sue & Ed!

Meet Valerie Fund patient ambassador, David. David is a Boy Scout, an avid hiker, and enjoys the outdoors. He went from hiking to a hospital bed after his diagnosis of aplastic anemia, a blood disorder in which his body fails to produce enough blood cells. Fortunately for David, his sister was a match, and he underwent a bone marrow transplant.

From his social worker, educational liaison, and child life therapist, all of his Valerie Fund care team were instrumental in keeping him and his family supported and his spirits up. Scroll through the images to read more about David’s Valerie Fund journey.

The Valerie Fund's Young Professionals Network (YPN) is hosting a Happy Hour on Tuesday, November 17th in NYC at The High Note from 6:30 - 9:30 pm. All are welcome to join - you do not have to be a member of the YPN to join. Come one, come all - 10% of all bar sales will be donated to The Valerie Fund to support psychosocial programs for children with cancer and blood disorders.

When he was just 3 years old, Hudson was diagnosed with Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), a chronic condition in which his immune system attacks and destroys its own cells. Now 7, Hudson receives his care at The Valerie Fund Children’s Center, where his mother shared, “The doctors and nurses have become such an important part of our journey. Their care, compassion, and expertise have helped guide us every step of the way.”

You may recognize Hudson from their first-ever Valerie Fund Walk & 5K Run team, Team Tait, which finished in the Top Ten and won the Small but Mighty prize at the event. We can’t wait to see what they do this year. Scroll through the photos to read more about Hudson’s Valerie Fund experience.

When asked what people should know about The Valerie Fund, TVF Kid Jarrett shared that if it weren’t for his amazing caregivers, his treatment would have been “less magical.” Imagine your child reflecting back on their cancer journey and describing it as “magical.” That is The Valerie Fund difference.
