All roads lead back to NHIOP!

Last week Nick Petromelis ‘16 a former Kevin B. Harrington Student Ambassador Program and SAC Politics Department alum returned to the Hilltop for Senator John Kennedy ’s Politics & Eggs!

Petromelis currently serves as Sen. Kennedy’s Communication Director while simultaneously pursuing his Masters in Defense & Strategic Studies at the United States Naval War College.

We love to see alumni thriving in their respective fields, especially when it leads them back to the place where it all started!

Live Free or Die! 🎭

Saint Anselm professor Jesse Saywell recently debuted his new original play, “Live Free or Die”, with the help of some NHIOP ambassadors!

The play takes place in a fictionalized New Hampshire State Senate on the cusp of a critical vote: a proposed constitutional amendment to allow New Hampshire to join the rest of New England in seceding from the United States under a tyrannical federal government.

The performance was directed by recent Saint Anselm alum, and former NHIOP Ambassador, Kathryn Langille ‘26, who brought her own insights and extensive knowledge of New Hampshire politics to the production. The cast of the performance also featured Ambassadors Jordan Tavares, Duke Addy, and Ben Harrington.

Saywell noted, “I wanted to write a play that analyzed our current divisions alongside those that led to the American Revolution and the Civil War. New Hampshire, as a purple state surrounded by blue states, seemed a perfect location to dive into these divisions - especially considering the state motto, “Live Free or Die.”

We are thrilled to see ambassadors spreading their knowledge and talents across campus!

Going out in style! 🎓

As the semester comes to a close, family and friends gathered at the NHIOP to celebrate the accomplishments of students in the Saint Anselm Politics Department and Student Ambassador Program.

Together we honored graduating seniors who received a high pass on their theses, recipients of the prestigious Politics, Coleman, and McLaughlin awards, and hooded the inaugural class of the Master of Public Policy program.

These students are hardworking, accomplished, and we are excited to watch them continue to flourish!

A special thanks to Gina Gulino-Payne for organizing such a beautiful evening.

🎤 Diana DiZoglio encouraged students to step up to the plate.

DiZoglio is currently leading the charge to deliver Massachusetts voters their requested audit, an initiative that won at the ballot box by 72%.

Invited to speak at Pizza and Politics, a led event, DiZoglio took the opportunity to connect with the audience not only as students, but as future leaders.

Citing partisan politics as a hindrance to government efficiency in delivering promises to the people, shared the sentiment that young people need to be the change.
