Happy Monday!
We are still on for the bluebird box workshop this Saturday at the Dowell Ranch in Manchaca.

Pauline Tom from the Texas Bluebird Society will be there to talk about them. Bryan Watson has assembled the parts, so it will be an easy build. You get to keep the box or donate it to a property where they are needed!

Come early and we can take a walk to find some of the resident bluebirds.

Discover the fascinating lives of Texas bluebirds in this hands-on workshop. Pauline Tom from the Texas Bluebird Society will start with a presentation about bluebirds, followed by a bird box build…

Interesting use of rudbeckia hirta.

Why do I adore this image? Because it shows the biennial Rudbeckia hirta being a nurse crop on a sown area. I will broadcast far too much RH on a site to help stabilize and compete against weeds. Plus, yeah, it's quite the show the next year. Then it fades away.

Just look at that basal foliage. Work it. Mmmmmmm.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to help plant at Dowell Ranch! These are the grasses and wildflowers that we have been growing all year. Each plug adds to the diversity and resilience of this restoration site, and before long we’ll be able to see the results in bloom. Thanks for helping bring more prairie back to life at Dowell Ranch.

THE FUTURE OF LOCAL GROUNDWATER
Together, we can advocate for effective strategies and inspire change to protect and preserve our invaluable groundwater resources for generations to come.

The future of groundwater in Texas is at a critical juncture, facing substantial challenges driven by rapid population growth and persistent drought. Predictions indicate a staggering 32% decline in groundwater supply by 2070 if we do not take decisive action.

To secure a sustainable future for our water resources, we must prioritize understanding these challenges, enhancing water management practices, and developing innovative solutions to support informed planning.

CHALLENGES: What pressing issues are confronting groundwater in Texas, and what specific challenges are we facing in our groundwater district?
MANAGEMENT: What vital role does a Groundwater Conservation District play in safeguarding our water resources?
SOLUTIONS: What proactive solutions is the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District, including the Fayette Prairie Chapter area, implementing to ensure a sustainable water future?
