What will be enough for us to believe that the Father is working in us and through us? How many times does He have to allow us to see His hand in whatever we are doing?
Just before these verses (v. 6-7) Jesus told the disciples that He is the way, the truth and the life, that the only way to the Father was through Him and that if you knew Him then you already knew and had seen the Father. But Philip questioned, just as we often do and asked Jesus to show them the Father even though Jesus clearly said they had already seen the Father because they had seen Him.
How many times has the Lord spoken to you clearly and you have questioned Him or asked Him to show you something over and over that He has already shown you? Hand raised right here. I know I have questioned Him on things. I have asked Him numerous times to show me or tell me the same thing He already has. I know His voice, yet I have still done this. We truly are a stubborn people.
Let’s try to stop questioning Him and asking for things that he’s already shown us. Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear clearly whatever the Lord speaks to us or shows us. The more in tune you are with Him, the better you will hear and see Him.

“Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:8-10

Those who are not from, of, or with God, will think that things a person says they’re doing for God or things that God has done in the lives of them or others is foolishness. It won’t really be understood by the unsaved. It may be a cause for intrigue and may lead the unsaved to salvation at some point, but until then, it will pretty much be considered foolishness.
What is foolishness to the unsaved, is amazing wisdom to the saved. In the verses before this it speaks of Christ crucified. It was a disgrace in that time to be crucified. It says it was considered “a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.”(v.23) It then goes on to say that it was considered wise by those whom God had called (those who believed and were saved by the power of Christ’s death and resurrection).
Some even see our belief as weakness. That somehow our reliance on someone besides ourself takes away our own strength. But truth be told, I have no strength without Him. It is Him who picks me up when I fall, He is where my strength comes from.
Our whole point of view changes when we are saved. I’m not saying that it all changes at once. We wouldn’t be able to handle it all at once anyway. But, it changes over time. Things that you once thought were foolish or weird or different become things that make complete sense. It is why the one who is saved is filled with an unexplainable peace in some of the hardest situations where most are filled with dread and chaos. It is an utterly amazing feeling to know Jesus. I may never be perfect, but He is and the power of His death and resurrection is where my peace comes from and there is no greater wisdom than His. There is nothing and no one whose strength, power and might will supersede His.

“For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:25

None of these should change because of what’s going on in our life or around us.
Rejoice ALWAYS. In the good, the bad and the ugly. Remember this place is temporary. This world is not our home. We are in the world, but not of the world if we know Jesus. REJOICE ALWAYS!
Pray CONTINUALLY. Not just when we have hit rock bottom and things are not going well. Pray even more when they are well. God longs to hear our voice as much as possible. We can pray and talk to Him just like we talk to our best friend. He is always ready to listen. PRAY CONTINUALLY!
Give thanks in ALL circumstances. There truly is always something to be thankful for. Take a trip down memory lane and remember, make mental notes of any blessing or any good that has happened in our lives. Write them down. Visit the list frequently and add to it. Every single thing in that list, is from God. All good is from Him. Now, when we are struggling or having a bad day which usually makes it hard for us to be thankful, remember the good and give thanks. GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES!
…..”For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It is His will for us to do these things. Many times we may question our purpose or what God’s will is for our lives, but in His word we find His will for ALL of our lives. You can’t just hold the Bible, it won’t magically transfer from book to mind. We have to open it. We have to read it. Study it. Hide it in our heart. Then He will reveal His will and His purpose for your life.
Remember, there is no bad in God and many blessings have come straight out of brokenness and struggle.
Keep looking up and looking to Him and asking Him to help you see the blessings no matter the struggle.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18‬
