CWD Astrid served her country in Afghanistan.

Now she waits.

And waits.

And waits.

Astrid entered Mission K9 Rescue in September 2023. Since then, countless dogs have found homes while this beautiful 5-year-old girl continues to watch families pass her by.

We don't understand why.

Astrid is affectionate, loyal, well-behaved, and absolutely adores people. She lives for belly rubs, cuddles, sunshine, and simply being near those she loves.

What she needs is simple:

A home where she can be the [ only pet ].
A home where she can finally stop waiting.
A home where someone chooses HER.

Nearly three years in rescue is far too long for a dog who has already given so much.

Some basic math... and for those getting MAD in the comments section, please read everything:

We have 50 dogs in our care.
In total, they go through 1-2 bags of dog food per day.
That’s 45+ bags per month.

At $75 per bag, that’s $3,375 every single month to keep these deserving, retired working + military dogs fed.

That does not include calorie-dense food (DYNE) for underweight dogs, joint supplements, prescription foods, and canned food (2 cases per week).

This isn’t extra. It’s essential. And it adds up fast.

Mission K9 Rescue is facing critically low funds, and without immediate support, it becomes nearly impossible to provide the medical care, rehabilitation, transportation, and safe retirement these dogs have earned. Many of these retired working dogs come home with injuries, anxiety, PTSD, and costly medical needs after years of service.

Since 2013, Mission K9 Rescue has helped more than 2,200 working dogs, reunited over 750 with their former handlers, and provided millions of dollars in veterinary care.

**Mission K9 Rescue is two weeks from failure.**

That is not dramatic language.
That is not fundraising copy.
That is where we are.

EVERY SUMMER WE FACE THIS HARDSHIP - THERE IS NO MAGIC TO STOP IT. WE CAN AND MUST BEG!

The summer giving season has slowed almost to a stop, AGAIN (every year for 13 years) and Mission K9 Rescue does not have the funds needed to keep moving forward at the level these dogs need.

Right now, we have **48 working dogs in our care**.

We have **20 more dogs waiting in Kuwait** who need to get out. Their transport has become more expensive because, due to the conflict involving Iran, we now have to move them through Saudi Arabia.

We also have retired Military Working Dogs who still need to be reunited with the handlers they served beside.

And today, we do not have the money to do it.

We have approximately **$200,000 committed**, but we cannot access those funds for about **60 days**. That money may save us later, but it does not feed dogs today. It does not pay kennels today. It does not buy airline crates today. It does not cover transport today. It does not reunite a dog with the person they served beside today.

We do not want to borrow money.

None of us are wealthy.
There is no hidden pile of cash.
There is no backup fund large enough to carry this.

There are just the dogs.

Dogs who served in war zones.
Dogs who searched for explosives.
Dogs who protected human lives.
Dogs who slept on concrete, worked in heat, flew across the world, and gave everything asked of them.

And now they are depending on us.

If Mission K9 Rescue fails, we do not know what happens to the dogs in our care or our loyal staff. That is the sentence none of us want to write, but it is the truth.

We are asking you as plainly as we can:

**If you want Mission K9 Rescue to survive, we need you to give now.**

Not later.
Not when things calm down.
Not when summer is over.
Now.

These dogs did not serve halfway.
They did not wait until it was convenient.
They did not ask if there was room in the budget before they protected someone’s life.

Now it is our turn to stand between them and abandonment.

And after 165 days in rescue with very little interest, our hearts are breaking for her.

The last time we “begged” for interest, you stepped up, and Rosti found his forever home the SAME DAY.

Today, we’re asking for that same miracle for Kimi.

Why does nobody want Rosti?

Rosti is a retired explosives detection K9 from Kuwait. He’s dog-friendly, loves people, and will play fetch for hours if given the chance.

At 9 years old, he still has so much life to give. ❤️

We truly don’t understand why he’s being overlooked. Why won’t someone give this sweet boy a chance?
