The Crisis Is Still Real, and We Still Need Your Help

First, thank you.

Over the past week, many people have stepped up to help Mission K9 Rescue during one of the most serious funding crises we have faced. Every donation has mattered. Every share has mattered. Every person who cared enough to act has helped keep this mission moving.

But we need to be clear: the crisis is not over.

Mission K9 Rescue still has less than one month of operating funds left. Without continued support, we will still be forced to make cuts that directly affect our ability to care for retired working dogs.

For anyone new here, these are the dogs who searched for explosives, protected troops, guarded bases, and served in dangerous places. When their service ends, they need help immediately. They need transport, veterinary care, safe placement, handler reunions when possible, and a team ready to answer the call.

Your donation does more than cover food or medical bills. It keeps phones answered, rescue plans moving, transports coordinated, veterinary appointments scheduled, and trained people in place so these dogs are not forgotten after their service is over.

Mission K9 Rescue has rescued over 1,350 working dogs, reunited more than 750 with their former handlers, and spent over $2.5 million on veterinary care.

That work is still at risk.

Please donate today. Give $10, $25, $100, or whatever you can.

To everyone who has already given, thank you. You have helped us keep going.

To everyone seeing this for the first time, we need you now.

They were there when they were needed. Now we need to be there for them.

The average retired military or contract working dog stays with us for six months…

During that time, the average cost of care includes:

• $300 for exams, vaccines, heartworm testing, and heartworm prevention
• $700 for a spay/neuter procedure with blood work
• $2,700 for dog food
• $170 for flea and tick prevention
• Around $200 for joint supplements

That’s over $4,070 per dog, and even more if unexpected medical care is needed.

And that doesn’t even include our incredible care staff, facility expenses, or transport costs.

If you believe in our mission, please consider becoming a monthly donor. Every single dollar helps us continue giving these heroes the care and love they deserve.

We. NEED. Your. Support.

Right now, Mission K9 Rescue is facing something every rescue fears: critically low funds.

Every single day, we fight to save the lives of retired Military Working Dogs, Contract Working Dogs, and Police K9s who have served our country and communities with unwavering loyalty. Dogs who spent their lives protecting us deserve safety, medical care, love, and dignity when their service ends.

But rescues like this cannot survive without support.

Vet bills do not stop.
Emergency transports do not stop.
Medical care, food, boarding, rehabilitation, and lifesaving rescue missions do not stop.

And right now, neither can we.

Mission K9 Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means your donations are tax deductible and go directly toward saving these heroes.

If you have ever shared one of our posts, followed our journey, prayed for our dogs, or believed in our mission, we are asking for your help today. Not next week. Not someday. Today.

Because the reality is simple:
Without donations, we cannot continue saying “yes” to dogs who desperately need us.

Please help us keep fighting for them.

Today, we pause.

We pause for the men and women who left home in service to this country and never came back.

We pause for the families who still feel an empty chair at the table, an unanswered phone call, a folded flag, a name etched in stone.

And we pause for the dogs who served beside them.

The ones who ran toward danger because that was their duty. The ones who stood watch in silence. The ones who protected their handlers, their teams, and people they would never know. The ones who gave everything they had because loyalty was not something they were trained to feel. It was who they were.

At MissionK9 Rescue, we know the bond between warrior and K9 is sacred. These dogs are not equipment. They are not tools. They are teammates, protectors, partners, and in many cases, the reason someone else made it home.

Memorial Day is not about celebration. It is about remembrance.

It is about saying their names.

It is about honoring the sacrifice.

It is about recognizing that freedom has always carried a cost, paid by brave souls on two legs and four.

To every service member who never came home, and to every Military Working Dog who gave their life in service, we remember you today and every day.

Your courage lives on.

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

To Rescue, Reunite, Re-Home, Rehabilitate and Repair any retired working dog that has served mankind in some capacity.

We’ve talked about how we’ve found over 2,200 heroes their forever homes, but what we don’t talk about as much is that we are at maximum capacity, and they don’t stop flooding in.

[There is a waitlist]

We have 50 retirees in our care.

We go through approximately 47 bags of dog food each month.

The average bag is $80, which means it costs $3,760 per month, not including dog beds, toys, treats, training, and more.

If you support our mission to save more retired working pups, you can help in three ways:

☑ Donate: https://bit.ly/MissionK9Donate
☑ Adopt: https://bit.ly/MissionK9Adoptions
*Please be patient with responses. Not everyone is approved.*
☑ Share this post to spread our mission

When your support stops, so does our mission. Help us find loving homes for more like these four.
