2026 Aviation Discovery Day is officially in the books!

The surrounding weather may have kept a lot of the aircraft from coming in for the show, but we could not have asked for a better day in the end!

We had the honor of opening Aviation Discovery Day by welcoming 100-year-old World War II veteran, Ollie Johnson, for a flight aboard the Commemorative Air Force - Bayou State Escadrille's Bell-47 helicopter. Making the experience even more meaningful, he was flown by fellow veteran, Mississippi Wing Hall of Fame inductee, and CAF member Pete Vozzo.

Following the flight, Pete presented Ollie with a commemorative patch to mark the occasion - a fitting tribute to a remarkable veteran and a truly unforgettable experience.

Moments like these remind us why we work to preserve and share aviation history. Seeing two veterans connected through flight was inspiring, humbling, and something none of us will soon forget.

A special thank you to Merritt Productions for beautifully capturing this heartwarming occasion and preserving these memories for generations to come.

Our annual Mississippi Wing CAF Hall of Fame Dinner kicked off Aviation Discovery Day weekend on Friday night as we gathered to celebrate our volunteers, veterans, and colonels.

We were honored to induce Pete Vozzo and Dan Fordice into the Mississippi Wing Hall of Fame in recognition of their decades of service to aviation, their communities, and the Commemorative Air Force. Pete accepted his award in person, while Nathan Fordice accepted on behalf of the Fordice family.

A special thank you to Steve Grantham and Outback Steakhouse for sponsoring this event for more than a decade and helping make the evening possible.

We also appreciate Eric Hollingsworth for serving as emcee and sharing the stories of our inductees.

One of the highlights of the evening was Keesler Federal Credit Union presenting a $25,000 check to support our events throughout the coming year. We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership as our presenting sponsor for a second consecutive year, and to Caitlin Jones Bradshaw for her support of our Wing.
