The Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was honored to support the grand opening of the The Center for Black Excellence and Culture — a monumental and historic moment for the Madison community and beyond. What began as a vision from Rev. Dr. Alex Gee has now come to fruition: a powerful space created to celebrate, uplift, and affirm Black culture, excellence, history, wellness, and community.

For generations, Black people have longed for spaces where we can gather authentically, unapologetically, and in full community with one another. The opening of this center represents more than a building — it is legacy, healing, empowerment, and hope. It is a place where we can support one another, share resources, celebrate our stories, nurture our youth, and strengthen our collective future.

We celebrate this incredible achievement and the countless individuals whose faith, labor, sacrifice, and vision made this dream a reality for Madison. This is history in the making. ❤️🤍 Congratulations to our Soror, Janine Stephens! Your strength, staying power, commitment, vision, and unwavering dedication to this transformational project have rightfully led to your role as Chief Operating Officer of this magnificent and historic endeavor. Our Founders are proud!

EVENT CANCELLATION: Lori Mann Carey Elementary Renaming & Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Due to anticipated storms and their unpredictability, and with the safety of our students, staff, and community in mind, we regret to inform you that the Lori Mann Carey Elementary Renaming and Ribbon Cutting Celebration scheduled for Friday, April 17 has been canceled.

This decision aligns with the cancellation of all MMSD programming scheduled after school, including MSCR community programs, external facility rentals and athletic events and practices. MSCR middle school afterschool programs are also canceled.

We understand this event holds special meaning, and we share in the disappointment of not being able to gather as planned to celebrate this important milestone. At this time, we do not yet have a rescheduled date, but we will keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. The safety of our community remains our top priority.
