This week’s artist spotlight goes to Barbara Odil! When limb separates from trunk, falls on the ground, or is carried by water, it begins an evolution. Nature starts the decay process; wind earth, water, and fire alter it, wearing away the outer layers. Insects carve intricate patterns in the wood; ocean creatures make it their home.
This wood is the basis and inspiration for my sculptures. Each piece is wild harvested from its natural environment of forest, seashore, or desert. It is then kiln cured, selectively trimmed, carved, sanded, pegged, and assembled. The sculptures are often finished with oils, stains, or shellacs.

Come see the work of Tom Gonzalez at the MAG Gallery! The Madison Artists Guild & Gallery presents Faces and Places, a special exhibition by Gonzales, October 9 through November 7, 2026. Working in oils, acrylics, watercolors, and sometimes mixed media, Gonzales transforms fleeting impressions into tangible images. His work moves between realism and more expressive interpretations, allowing each medium to shape the way an idea comes to life.

This week’s artist is Lauren Martin! As an artist and nature lover, Lauren's artistic drive is deeply rooted in clay. Clay has captivated her imagination since she was a young child making mud pies that dried under the hot Tennessee sun. Clay provides the opportunity to turn raw earth into something that can be functional or purely aesthetic. Clay is her canvas. Often, Lauren will throw vessels on the pottery wheel and then alter the forms with found textures or add small sculptural additions. She feels there is no better inspiration than Mother Nature, and it is her ultimate wish for her love of cooking, gardening and traveling to transpire within her pottery. She is currently working and creating artwork in her tiny but mighty studio in Madison, Georgia and teaching classes throughout central Georgia. She believes that "life with muddy hands is a good life."

This week’s artist spotlight goes to Michelle Kent! Michelle loves the untouched historical authenticity of Madison, where she can recreate the antebellum era of buildings that can't be found in this day and age. To keep the historical integrity of her work, she also restores frames from antique stores to highlight her vision. Michelle is not limited to historical dwellings, as she commissions work of homes of any era a special memory for loved ones.

Featuring artists Karen Blakeney and Wearable Expression artists Kat Whatley, Frances Pruitt, and Peggy Martin.
