Madison Morgan Community Garden, Inc. In addition, we plan to donate fresh produce to our local food bank through the efforts of our volunteers.

In 2020, a small group of concerned Morgan County citizens formed to identify ways they could improve sustainability and social justice within the local community. Our efforts evolved into a community garden to improve availability of local food sources while offering activities that bring together people of diverse backgrounds, ages, races, and faiths. We have also developed partnerships with the educational community to provide learning opportunities for students through the school system, the local extension office, and the Boys & Girls Club. We are deeply committed to enhancing community resilience and providing educational opportunities for young and old inspired by a vision of sustainability that honors and protects our earth.

Mark your Calendars! Next Friday, Aug 21st and Saturday, Aug 22nd, gardening and pollinator aficionados will be participating in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census. This project was started by the University of Georgia in the effort to make a difference in pollinator conservation.

Participation is easy. You just need 15 minutes, a print out of the Counting sheet (link below), and a favorite pollinator bush. For those 15 minutes, you will count how many times a pollinator lands on your bush, even if it's the same pollinator returning. Once finished, you will upload your results to the GSEPC.org website.

Did you know the garden has 11 beds dedicated to go to food charities? We have already donated around 200 pounds of produce this year! Our Food Donation chair, Patricia Muhammed, dropped off today's harvest at The Caring Place to go home with local famillies.
