Congo4Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation (non governmental organization - NGO) created in 2016 by Congolese professionals for the purpose of improving education infrastructures in the D.R. Congo4Tomorrow (Congo for Tomorrow) is a Non-Profit Organization created by Congolese professionals for the purpose of improving education infrastructures in the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R.C.). We have created this Organization with the sole purpose of helping public schools with very low resources/funding by providing more supplies and learning tools and restoring infrastructures to facilitate the learning process.

Today, October 5, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, a day to recognize the dedication and impact of teachers around the world. To every teacher and school principal in the communities we serve, thank you for showing up, teaching, encouraging, and believing in your students every day.

We want to do something meaningful for them today, and we need your help. Leave a heartfelt message of encouragement for a teacher or principal and tell us the country you’re writing from. We’ll share your messages with our partner schools, so teachers and students can feel the support coming from communities around the world.

Let’s remind our teachers that their work matters, their efforts are appreciated, and they are not alone.

By 2020, our team had grown from 3 to 5 members, and our school network had grown to 6 schools. As the world faced the COVID 19 pandemic, our team was determined to keep supporting our school communities. We launched our first network wide initiative, “55 for 50,” bringing together our volunteers and a new team of healthcare volunteers in Kinshasa.

Over two weeks, we visited all 6 schools, reaching nearly 3,000 children and 81 teachers with education sessions on proper handwashing and masking. We also provided 144 books, 150 masks, 100 soap, 50 hand sanitizer, and 39 handwashing stations to help schools stay safe.

It was a challenging year, but our community came together to keep learning, supporting one another, and moving forward.

Our very first School Drive took place at Collège St Jean Paul II in 2019. The school principal and teachers worked tirelessly throughout the year, supporting 179 students despite limited resources. Some students finished the year with outstanding grades, and we wanted to celebrate their hard work.

Our volunteers went on the ground to celebrate with them and provided school supplies to support students across 9 classrooms for the year ahead. It was a small step, but a meaningful one, and the beginning of a project that continues to grow.

Can you believe how far one opportunity can go?

We met Tatiana in 2019, when she was a 13 year old student at Collège St Jean Paul II, the first school we partnered with. She had big dreams for her future, but limited opportunities to pursue them.

Through our School Drive, Tatiana met a generous sponsor who began providing her with school supplies year after year. It’s people like you who help turn dreams into possibilities. And sometimes, a little support can go a very long way.

In 2017, our co-founder Ngwende and a volunteer from our Kinshasa team visited Collège St Jean-Paul II. The visit was an eye opener, showing just how much support the school needed.

Two years later, the school became part of our very first School Drive, providing school supplies to children across 9 classrooms. Sometimes, one visit is all it takes to turn a concern into action. This was just the beginning.

In 2014, three people from the Congolese diaspora shared a simple but powerful dream, to give back and help create a brighter future for the next generation.

Two years later, in August 2016, that dream became Congo4Tomorrow. Franck Kamangu, Carole Kamangu and Myriam Ngwende took a leap of faith, believing that every child deserves the opportunity to dream, learn, and build a better tomorrow.

Ten years later, it’s hard not to look back with emotion. What began as a dream shared by three people has grown into a global community of passionate leaders, all working together for the future of Congolese youth.

To the dream that started it all, and to everyone who has helped carry it forward, thank you. Here’s to the next chapter.
