Join RAW for our annual Exhibit Opening + Block Party on May 28th! Each year, more than 1,000 youth, families, artists, and neighbors gather outside RAW to celebrate the creativity and voices of young people. This event is free and open to the public!

This year’s exhibition, Undercurrents, explores the stories, emotions, and resilience that exist beneath the surface in the lives of RAW youth and our communities. Through art, young people invite us to reflect, respond, and imagine a more welcoming world.

We are also celebrating BASH Reimagined. In a moment when many young people and families are navigating uncertainty and change, RAW is choosing to gather in ways that center creativity, connection, and belonging.

Instead of a traditional fundraising gala, we’re giving our dancing shoes a break and inviting our supporters to put on their “Team RAW” t-shirts to cheer on our young artists and show up for community at this amazing community. In celebration, we will create a large-scale collaborative art installation on RAW’s building façade - a piece built by all, in community. Central Square will come to life with live art-making, music and performances, curated art, and opportunities to support RAW’s mission in addition to all of the traditional elements of our Annual Block Party.

"Plant More Seeds Than We Pick Flowers was created from a simple truth. If we are to leave some kind of beauty, love and care into the world, we must cultivate our values in the spaces we share, while also enjoying and picking the metaphorical flowers.

Our healing is bound up in our relationships to self, creativity, each other, and the living world around us. Nature has always known this. Seeds do not wait for perfect conditions to grow and spread. And beneath the surface of every community, often less visible but real, are the forces that sustain us. The echinacea flower at the center of this work is a healing plant, long used to strengthen what is already here. The child who holds it knows this, and she has been taught this. She lets the seeds fall open-handed, receiving and releasing, meeting the moment as it is. And that healing ripples out into the communities, families and organizations she is a part of."

Artist Spotlight: Thonah de Bourmont

Thonah is an architectural designer by day and a fine artist by night. He graduated from MassArt, has worked with startups at Harvard, and currently works for Jones Architecture designing spaces for colleges and universities all around Massachusetts.

Thonah has been part of RAW’s community since 2000, and was mentored in our building by Mary Flannery, Käthe Swaback, Jason Cruz, and many more. His art has been integral to our BASH fundraising effort since its inception, and brings excellence and beauty to our auction each year. Thonah has played a foundational role in the creation and evolution of our Door 2 Door and Artist-in-Residence programs. Not only does he contribute as an artist, but as our Alumni Liaison tasked with collaborating with artists from our community to participate, create and donate their masterpieces to BASH to support the work that we do.

Thonah is a painter and designer that draws inspiration primarily from nature and shared human experiences to try to connect and reconnect people back to harmony with one another and the world.

He is a leader, visionary, and creative powerhouse, and we are proud to call him a RAW alum.

Thonah has generously contributed these two amazing pieces to our 2026 Virtual Auction with one more releasing next week. We are so grateful for his generosity and ongoing commitment to RAW! NEW EXHIBIT COMING SOON! We are so excited to start decorating our gallery for our upcoming Undercurrents exhibit. Thank you so much to Randy Gonzalez, Geovany Miranda, Octavio Nares, Michael Leone, and Sebastian Boucher from Painters and Allied Trades District Council 35 for getting our space ready with some fresh coats of paint. We are so grateful for the annual support and for the generosity, hard work, and craftsmanship from these incredible painters!
