It's one of the best times of the season to come visit our demonstration site Prairie Ally Outdoor Center in Luverne. The berries and blooms abound. In the second photo: gooseberry (we recommend harvesting when they are just turning slightly pink before bugs get them, or eat them green for a sour punch!), red and black raspberry, and two different varieties of currants. Lots of edible and medicinal herbs as well!
Bring scissors to snip herb stems and a container for your berries.

Juneberry/serviceberry and mulberry are now in season! Keep an eye out for these tasty treats - they are in many parks, yards, and alleyways. You can generally harvest fruit in public parks and along city sidewalks. If you find trees on private property, ask for permission before you dive in! Juneberries, also called serviceberries, grow on various sizes of trees and shrubs, depending on the variety. Check apps like Falling Fruit to help guide you to local spots! Falling Fruit

It's a practice in patience waiting on your favorite fruit to ripen, and a practice in gratitude for all the work our favorite plants are doing to produce them! At our demonstration site we are watching (in order of photos) nanking cherry, red lake currant, black raspberry, gooseberry, and Juneberry/serviceberry!
