Over the past several months many of you have asked, โWhatโs happening with the Food Pantry?โ We want to share where things stand today.
As many of you know, the Townโs decision to close access to the T.C. Passios School means the Lunenburg Community Food Pantry must leave the space weโve proudly called home. While this news has been difficult, we have remained focused on one goal: making sure no one in our community goes without food.
Since learning we would need to relocate, our Board and volunteers have conducted an extensive search for a new home. Weโve explored available commercial spaces, reached out to property owners, and considered every realistic option we could find. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts we have not been able to secure a suitable location that meets the Pantryโs needs and is financially sustainable.
Although this has been disappointing, we are not giving up.
We are currently in discussion with various Town boards to seek permission to place temporary modular housing on town property. Town officials have been supportive in helping us find a solution that would allow us to continue to serve our neighbors, and give us approximately three years to plan, fundraise, and build a permanent home for the Food Pantry.
This would be an important step toward ensuring that the Pantry continues to serve Lunenburg families for many years to come.
In the coming months, weโll be launching a Capital Campaign to help fund our temporary location and begin saving for a permanent future. We realize this is an ambitious goal, however we know what our community is capable of when people come together to help each other.
We will continue to share updates as plans move forward. Your encouragement, support, and generosity have carried us through every challenge weโve faced so far, and weโre hopeful that together weโll write the next chapter of the Lunenburg Community Food Pantryโs story.
Thank you for standing with us. Together we can ensure that the Pantry continues to provide food, hope, and dignity to those who need it most.
