Purchase large garlic bulbs from a local nursery, seed catalog, or even the grocery store. Separate into individual cloves, leaving the papery shell intact.
Plant each clove 1-2" deep in soil with pointed end up. Harvest in the spring when plant tops turn yellow and fall over. Want more information on garlic production? Visit:https://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/vegetable/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2011/10/garlic.pdf

Strawberries are cool-weather plants - while they are spring-planted crops in much of the US, in the south they perform better when planted in the fall.

Purchase short-day/June bearing or day-neutral variety transplants from local nurseries if possible, or try ordering from catalogs or online. 'Festival,' 'Albion,' and 'Chandler' are good varieties to try.
The plants (when not flowering) are cold hardy to just below 20 degrees, but have a freeze-protection plan ready whenever it's predicted to go below 20 degrees.
Once flowers and fruit form in late winter, protect whenever temperatures are predicted to drop to near 32 degrees - the flowers and fruit are not cold-hardy.
Plant in rich soil, prepared with compost, and irrigate regularly with clean, high-quality water for best results.

With tonight’s projected freeze, it’s a good idea to harvest all your tomatoes 🍅 red or green today!!

Cold weather is ahead!

Here's your yearly reminder: Do not can tomatoes from dead or frost-killed vines because the acidity of the fruit may be altered. Green tomatoes are more acidic than ripened fruit and can be canned safely with any of the following recommendations in our NDSU Extension publication >>> https://www.ndsu.edu/agriculture/extension/publications/canning-and-freezing-tomatoes-and-making-salsa #:~:text=Do%20not%20can%20tomatoes%20from%20dead%20or%20frost%2Dkilled%20vines%20because%20the%20acidity%20of%20the%20fruit%20may%20be%20altered.%20Green%20tomatoes%20are%20more%20acidic%20than%20ripened%20fruit%20and%20can%20be%20canned%20safely%20with%20any%20of%20the%20following%20recommendations.
