Monday, we had the honor of presenting Gracey with her very own Amtryke, generously sponsored by Lubbock Sound Equipment Co..

Gracey is a strong and determined 23‑year‑old who survived a traumatic brain injury and a spinal cord injury after a car accident last November. Through every challenge, she’s held tight to what matters most — being with her family and finding ways to stay active together. One of her biggest wishes has been to join in on family bike rides again.

Her new Amtryke gives her a safe, stable, and empowering way to ride, build strength, and enjoy those moments she’s been missing.

We’re grateful to Lubbock Sound Equipment Co. for making this possible and for helping Gracey regain freedom, movement, and family time on wheels.

And that’s a wrap on an amazing week at National AMBUCS Conference in Myrtle Beach! We had a great time catching up with old friends, making new ones, and spending time with our sister chapter from Greater New Mexico Chapter of National Ambucs.

Now it’s time to head back to Lubbock, Texas, with new ideas, great memories, and maybe a few extra pounds from all the local eateries!

Ready to share what we learned from one of the largest attended conferences in over a decade... and sleep in our own beds!

These awards represent so much more than plaques and recognition—they represent countless hours of volunteering, fundraising, serving our community, supporting scholarships, providing therapeutic tricycles, and working together to make a difference.

Big hats, big hearts, and an even BIGGER AMBUCS family!

What an incredible time at the AMBUCS National Conference Big Hat Sessions! There’s nothing quite like getting together with AMBUCS members from across the country who all share the same passion for making a difference in their communities.

We may come from different chapters and different parts of the country, but we’re all united by one mission: creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.

At today’s chapter meeting, we had the absolute joy of presenting Sissy with her very own Amtryke — and her journey makes this moment truly extraordinary.

Born at 22 weeks, weighing just 1 pound, Sissy has overcome more challenges in three years than most face in a lifetime. Today, she will climb onto her new Amtryke with confidence and excitement. This tryke will provide the valuable strengthening she needs to support her walking goals and help her engage socially with her peers and siblings — giving her both mobility and connection.

Sissy was on the National AMBUCS Wish List, a program that ensures riders across the country can receive an Amtryke even if they don’t live near a local chapter. With more than 150 AMBUCS chapters in over 35 states, there are still areas without a local presence — and the Wish List bridges that gap so every rider has access to independence and opportunity.

Her Amtryke was made possible through the generous donation of Gandy's Dairy whose support helped turn this moment into reality.

Monday's Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS meeting was powered by purpose and passion thanks to our speakers from Legacy Ranch of Texas — a veteran‑owned and veteran‑operated organization making a real impact right here in our community.

Legacy Ranch assists service members who want to take their cumulative military experience and start a business or grow their existing one. Their mission is rooted in relationships — offering support through training, mentors, veteran camps, and special events that build confidence, connection, and opportunity.

We are grateful for the work they do and for the dedication they show to empowering veterans long after their service ends. Thank you for sharing your mission with us and for strengthening the fabric of West Texas through leadership and heart.
