Although New World screwworm (NWS) is not in Texas, livestock producers are encouraged to remain vigilant and take the necessary steps to prevent NWS infestations if the pest reaches our state.

The Texas Animal Health Commission encourages livestock producers, veterinarians, and animal owners to stay informed on New World screwworm surveillance efforts. Early detection and reporting are key to protecting animal health.
