Scott Robertson provided an update on his 20 years of work in Guatemala. Along with some funds from our club, this clinical psychologist has been part of a team training folks in EMT procedures in 25 villages in addition to a new clinic. One of the villages includes a five hour walk to the nearest hospital service. Without electricity and running water, there is a significant need for help with labor and delivery.

We are so proud of the devotion he has given to his non-denominational service above self. Metrotarians Linda McMurry in addition to David Bender have generously participated with his grandson and this year his son will join the team. They are continuing the "Circle of Gratitude."

The program for Monday, Aug 24th was Dr. Katherine Wells, Director of Public Health, with the City of Lubbock.

“With over 15 years of experience building and scaling governmental health operations, she gained prominence for leading local healthcare accessibility during the COVID-19 pandemic and managing regional infectious disease responses, such as public health measures during the regional measles outbreak.” LinkedIn

In 2922, Dr. Wells was nominated as one of Nexstar’s Women of the Year campaign that highlights four local women throughout the South Plains.

Misty Mendez gave us a presentation on the Lubbock State Living Center, where Megan Greenwood is an occupational therapist. The sensory room, which was just installed, provides opportunities for folks on the Autism spectrum or those living with intellectual challenges to modify behaviors to more easily live in the community.
