A Lubbock family is asking the community to rally around 6 year old Tyler after a crash on FM 1585 took the life of his mother, Gina Ganaway, 49, and Joseph Ellis, 49, on Thursday, June 11.

According to Texas DPS, the crash happened near FM 1585 and County Road 1100 in Lubbock County. Ellis and Ganaway were pronounced deceased at the scene. Tyler, who was riding in the SUV, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

A GoFundMe created by family members says Tyler suffered serious trauma, including swelling on the brain, and is facing a long road to recovery. The fundraiser says donations will help with medical bills, therapy, surgeries and any adaptive equipment he may need as he heals.

The fundraiser had raised more than $8,400 toward a $24,000 goal at the time it was shared, but that number may continue changing as more people donate.
