PET OF THE WEEK! Kaiser is a male Husky mix. The vet averaged his age to be one to two years old. He was found as a stray, and the rescuer posted him, but he was not claimed. Kaiser is good with all dogs and all people. He is a very well behaved, gentle dog. Kaiser will sit on command, and he loves to play but not in an obnoxious way. Huskies are known for being fence jumpers and diggers but he has shown none of that behavior. He attended an adoption event at Petco Saturday and was a perfect gentleman. The Humane Society of Garland County would like to extend a special thank you to the "Extra Special Pet Parlor" for providing a groom to a very special dog that was rescued and brought to our shelter. We have since named him Forrest. As the before picture will show he was totally matted and unkept. Patsy and her assistant Victor, offered to bath and groom him for us. The after pics will show how amazing their work was, and we are most grateful to the Extra Special Pet Parlor located at 2016 Central Avenue for their kindness and charitable contribution. Safira and her kittens, Remus, Jinx and Hana are all just chillin at the Humane Society waiting for people to come give them a look. The two orange kittens are Remus and Jinx, and the calico is Hana. They are currently about 9 weeks old and not quite 2 pounds. When they are three pounds we will get them spay/neutered and they will be ready to go. Approved applicants can secure them before spaying and pick them up the day after surgery. These two puppies were born April 10, 2026. They were bottle fed and are now ready for their forever homes. They are both female, the blue one is Dani, and the dark brindle one is Dakota. They have received lots of socialization and potty training at their foster home. Jack is available for adoption again. He is a Pomeranian, weighs 18 pounds, and he is seven years old. Jack was raised with other dogs and a cat. We thought he had found the perfect home, but Jack is an unusual case. He is so loving and sweet most of the time, but he has moments when he snaps. Jack never snaps at one particular person, the kennel manager, but some other people he does. He greets people well and doesn't seek to attack anyone; there are just some things that he seems to get uncomfortable with. Jack was in a home for four years up North but losing his owner and a dog sibling brought on odd behavior. He needs an owner that is not uptight and fearful. When he loves and trusts you, he does not try to bite at all. Jack is loving and loyal to those he loves. He will need to be ignored initially. Pushing him does not reach him. Giving him daily care and time will reach him. It is important not to be nervous and have a calm but dominant demeanor. I know there are people that know exactly how to handle this dog, and Jack is worth it. Somehow his losses made him confused and unsure about who to trust. Look who’s at Petco looking for their forever homes. These 3 cuties are about 4 months old and full of love and playfulness ❣️ Kenzie is a long haired tabby female, Eric is an orange and white male with some distinct markings and Emerson is an adorable orange tabby that loves attention. PET OF THE WEEK!
Forest is a male, Shihtzu mix that is approximately three years old. Forest was wandering around the city on his own. His hair was matted to the skin with big patches all over him. He was allusive and would not go to anyone. When he was finally caught, he was immediately the sweetest most social dog. Forest literally loves everyone, including other dogs. He will fetch the ball as many times as you throw it. Forest is very housetrained but prefers to go off lead in a fenced yard. He needs owners that will be active with him, and preferably another dog to play with. Forest will need to be groomed by a professional groomer consistently because he does have long hair normally. He is currently heartworm positive, and in the middle of his treatment. Forest can continue his treatment in his new home. This is Mystic, a female Siamese mix cat who gave birth to these little babies on April 28, 2026, right here at the kennel. They are growing and will be ready in about a month. The little grey tabby featured is her adopted child that she graciously fed because he had no mother. His name is Groot and he just made himself at home with the group. Her kittens featured are Gideon, Gerdy, and Gemma. If you are interested in any of these kittens, you can secure them by paying the adoption fee, after your application is approved. They will get spay/neutered when they are 3 pounds then they can go to their new homes. Who loves Dachshunds?!! We have 7 that are half Dachshunds and 1/2 miniature Silver Lab. They were born March 28, 2026. There five female and two males. Their current weight is 6 to 8 pounds. Their adoption fee is $200. They will come spay/neutered, have all of their shots, worming and flea/tick prevention.
