Yesterday while heading to the river we were met with a handful of random people at intersections or walking down the road. 11 sacked lunches were handed out before even stopping anywhere.

A group of beautiful women from Avon prepared lunches with hearty ham and cheese sandwhiches, chips, a banana, 1/2 cup of oreo dirt pudding and 1/2 cup of banana pie pudding. And I failed to get a picture 🤦‍♀️ Sometimes the picking up of the meal is just as powerful as some of the camp moments. We talked about Jeff, he was always there when picking up the meals from them. We talked about the camps and the changes our friends are experiencing. I visited with their horses 🐎 ❤️ These women prayed for me before I left. Simple but deep! God put on her heart what I was allowing to weigh me down. I left with a reignited faith for those things that I wasn't letting go of.

We had taken a different route and on a whim stopped at one of the places we visited about 6 years ago. We found a couple under a bridge living from their vehicles who were hot, hungry and very appreciative. We chatted for a bit and had a nice visit. After leaving we passed a trail along the road and decided to check it out. A young lady came riding down on a bike. We had 19 lunches left and there were 17 people there. They do have to vacate by the end of the month but it was great to meet new faces. And might I add - this camp was immaculate! You can tell that they all work together to keep it clean and trash free.

30 lunches and a case of water were served. It was a very refreshing day. By request, no pictures were taken.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jill, Dallas and Jen headed downtown yesterday. The camps are gone. They've been bulldozed and everyone is gone. Chico and Albert are gone. Baby Girl is gone 😞

Despite that, it was still a good day. In hopes of finding others we drove to some camps that we've visited in the past and were met with about the same thing. Several new groups were found and Jill saw a few people that she hasn't seen in quite some time so there were smiles and hugs. About 30 snack bags and lots of water was handed out, along with bags of 'essentials'.

We are still in touch with many who are in housing. Our next big venture will be delivering 'Move In Kits' from Home Depot. They are currently being sorted and organized and we expect to start distributing the last week of June. More to come on this.

We will start parking at a fixed location next weekend. Flyers providing dates will be distributed at locations that our friends frequent...and we may do some 'round ups' the first few times. We can go back to serving regular meals vs sack lunches ... although anything is perfect! We have enough water for the rest of the summer 🙌

We are happy for those who have wanted and are now in housing. We are praying for those who are struggling to cope with the change. We are listening for direction in this new normal. Your continued engagement and support is a blessing and we can't thank you enough.

For our friends....we pray that you turn to the Lord in your moments of fear and worry. We love you and Jesus loves you more. "Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

God doesn’t care about the magnitude, He cares about the movement and direction.Things are slowing down. We served snack bags with tuna/chicken salad kits, cookies, fruit cups and chips prepared with love by the Eversoles in Lebanon. We were only able to see about 26 of our usual friends. The camps will be empty by mid July.

Could this be a time to use the pause to focus on who we are being in Christ rather than what we are doing. Could it be that rather than focusing on numbers it's time to invest deeply in the few people directly in front of us? We will continue to pray and to listen, to trust His will and have faith in His plans.

This is bitter sweet. We are happy for those who want housing. But we feel helpless to those who have anxiety or mental issues that just can't handle the change. Chico is such a calm soul, he walks with the Prince of Peace and it is evident! He is not looking forward to leaving the place he has called home for over 10 years and he is worried about the 9 cats he has inherited and cared for but he is positive about it (peace). Some have adjusted well but many are struggling with finding a new normal and figuring out how to adapt to living without the support they're used to receiving (food, necessities, prayer, love and consistent personal relationships with various people/groups) at a time when they really need it.

Good news, the move-in kits from Team Depot should be ready mid May. We've gathered addresses and are excited to deliver !!

As always, this is God's outreach and we are the ones blessed to be the hands and feet that carry it out. Pray for our friends. Thank you for following and caring.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will direct your path.

Today was bagged lunches from New Brunswick Christian Church. We saw several friends including Rachel, Scotty and Chico at our first stop. One camp we visited was completely abandoned. The mood is somber as there is not enough housing for everyone and some people, like veterans, are not eligible through the city programs. We were told there is an average of 8 years waiting for veteran housing programs. This seems criminal! Our last stop was the library and we were so glad we stopped. We were able to offer a kind word and a hug with lunch and plenty of water to 8 friends. The weather was not comfortable but we know warmer days are coming! Please keep our friends in your prayers as they face these difficult times.

Forecast: Partly wild, with a chance of bugs – Sunny then snowing, then raining hot mugs. The weatherman grins as he spins the next tale: Your guess is as good as mine – no details!

Over half of our friends are no longer on the streets. The remaining have relocated and we’re still on the hunt to find all of them. Many have moved into apartments or doubles and we have received several requests for window air conditioners. If you have one you would like to donate please send us a message.

If you pay attention you can see where God works in others, just for you. Sometimes it’s quietly behind the scenes, aligning circumstances and other times it’s bold moves designed to fulfill a bigger purpose. We were contacted by a wonderful lady from Home Depot who is putting together a Team Depot Donation of Home Transition Kits. The timing – the need – the perfection of our God! We will have close to 100 kits that will be filled with the most perfect items for someone moving into a new home for the first time. "Kits" doesn't quite explain the packages, I was quite amazed when I saw the list – mind blown, actually. We will post pictures when we receive them.

The Meal Train calendar is wide open for every other weekend. We are requesting that meals be simple bagged lunches or snack bags until we’re able to establish a full route again. We can pick up Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. The link to Meal Train is posted at the top of our page.

Psalm 77:13-14
Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? You are the God who performs miracles, you display your power among the peoples.

The Gibson's of Brownsburg loaded us up with Easter in a bag. We served hearty ham sandwhiches, Easter eggs, carrots, chips and candy to 36 of our friends. The bags were decorated, handmade cards were included and each bag was prayed over by the family ❤️

It was a ghost town! The one camp has been vacated. There were 3 people still gathering their things - the other 40ish have been moved into housing.

We drove around for about 2 hours through downtown, 10th Street, Washington Street and everywhere in between. We found some very hungry and grateful people along the way. One man was under a bridge in a wheelchair and he was so thankful that tears leaked. We went through Plainfield and met several friendly faces who were very hungry and thankful. We are heading out this afternoon to hand out the remaining meals.

Easter. It's more than a bunny, egg hunts and filled baskets. It's easy to get caught up in the holiday and forget the reason. It's a time of reflection, and rejoicing in the miracle of Christ’s resurrection. It's a declaration that light overcomes darkness, personal brokenness can be healed, and God’s love is absolute. We pray that the love of Christ shines brightly in your hearts and the amazing miracle of this historic event brings you joy.

Matthew 28:5-6
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Thank you Deanne ❤️ When we thought something wasn't going to work she persisted and made it work! 5000 bottles!

Thank you Levi, Cory, Tyler, Sid, Kayleigh, Haelee and the 2 young men!

The truck pulled up with 3 pallets of water. They worked like a machine and had it emptied in less than 20 minutes 💪

We have water for the entire summer ❤️

Jen and Dallas were excited to see our friends this week. Steve and Lori, who organize a food and clothing pantry, joined also, in a truck filled with clothes and shoes. The Eversoles of Lebanon made up sloppy joes, chips, fruit and cookies. The bus was loaded to the max with goodie bags, Ensure, Bibles, toilet paper, lighters, candles, hand warmers and other random items that all disappeared by the end of the day ❤️ 62 trays were served and it was exactly enough! The weather was perfect.

The bigger camp we visit is being completely vacated. It's a big mess right now but there were quite a few who are pretty excited to have a real home. The weather had everyone out and about, busy gathering the things they'll take with them. There was a small confrontation and both were injured - but the beauty in seeing these guys watch out for and take care of each other was pretty awesome. Everyone is fine, BTW.

Rotary Club of Avon, Indiana grant that was awarded to Hearts for the Homeless has already delivered over 100 cans of bug spray and people were beyond thankful! Bugs down on the river are relentless! We will be receiving 125 cases of water on 3/28. DeAnne has been such a blessing and you can see her heart in what she does. If anyone would like to come and help unload just send us a message.

We mentioned not having batteries a few weeks ago and almost immediately we received 2 deliveries. Thank you ladies ❤️

New Brunswick Church of Christ has been such a blessing to us. Lisa and the congregation are always thinking of ways to help, the youth help with meals, they allow us space in their barn and she is so patient! We are very thankful for their love and support over the years, a direct gift from God 🙌

Thank you for following us and keeping up with our friends. We know each visit may be the last time we see some of them before they receive housing. We will remain in contact with most and just see where God takes us as this rides out. Thank you for your prayers and for your support. You are the reason we are able to be God's hands and feet.

I had loaded the bus last week with all kinds of stuff to hand out. Then I saw pictures of the meal and had to unload everything so we would fit inside with the meal 😬 Womans Wellness Lifegroup at Crossroads Church - Avon, IN made ham and beans, cornbread, crackers, cookies, cole slaw, and oranges.

Jill and LaDonna joined. It drizzled a little but all in all it was a pretty decent day. LaDonna is such a light and brings out the best in everyone. She had a big group outside the bus and I looked out and everyone was laughing and smiling and it was beautiful.

We served 68 meals, but did not get a picture :( The camps are clearing fast! Many were anxious to get housing, others not so much. Please keep all of them in your prayers, specifically those who fear going into housing and those who have multiple pets. We have no idea what will happen to the animals that are part of a family, that may have been abandoned and are now cared for by our friends. Apparently they do have housing available for people with pets but there are a few that care for 3-8 pets.

Hearts for the Homeless was chosen as a recipient for a grant from the Rotary Club of Avon, Indiana ❤️ This grant provided bug spray and water. We will be receiving over 5000 bottles of water over the next few months. We are currently working on space to store it and then will need trucks and muscles to pick up and unload. We will post more details later this week.

We love to watch God move! Last time out, on our way back the muffler rusted out and was dragging. When taking it to get an estimate I reallized that the HVAC blower had quit working again 🙄. At that time we had $35. We have since received over $500. God knows and works and provides right on time 🙌 Thank you for being obedient to God’s still small voice. Uncertain about the blower at this time but the muffler is taken care of. One thing is certain - I am exhausted by vehicle malfunctions and repairs! Jeff took care of so much that I wasn't even aware of. Oh, and I think we've uncovered a secret. People are used to us having batteries. We haven't had any since Jeff passed. He claimed that someone had them delivered to his house, however, I have a strong suspicion that he was the one buying them. Many people are still just finding out that he is in heaven and all are heartbroken that he isn't with us anymore. Jeff left a lasting impression on so many ❤️

We had a fun day and are blessed. Prayers are always needed for people with illnesses, those with mental health issues, those struggling with addiction, those missing family. And this goes for everyone whether they are homeless or not. Let's be prayer warriors for all in need!

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
