Too many people with disabilities don't have jobs or are stuck in unstable jobs. Many jobs do not treat people with disabilities fairly.

When a disabled person applies for a job, they may face:
🔹Complicated applications.
🔹Risk of losing benefits like Medicaid.
🔹Ableist tests that don’t measure job skills.

Once a disabled person gets a job, they often deal with:
🔹Lack of support.
🔹Ableism from coworkers, clients, or customers.
🔹Being overlooked for promotions or special training.

We must make workplaces more accessible for people with disabilities.

⚖️ The Supreme Court is back in session—and its decisions can shape disability rights for years to come.

Some of the most important disability rights protections have been shaped by the courts:

🔹 Olmstead v. L.C. (1999) — affirmed the right of people with disabilities to live in the community rather than being unnecessarily institutionalized.

🔹 Tennessee v. Lane (2004) — strengthened protections under the ADA and affirmed the right of people with disabilities to have meaningful access to the courts.

🔹 Endrew F. v. Douglas County (2017) — clarified that students with disabilities are entitled to an educational program designed to enable meaningful progress.

As the Court takes on a new term, its decisions could once again have a lasting impact on education, healthcare, community living, employment, and civil rights.

Disability rights are civil rights. And the decisions made in courtrooms can affect all of us.
