Rattletrap Ranch

Earlier this week, we got word about an injured cat who needed help.

Naturally, we responded the only way we know how: grab every trap we own, load up the vehicle, and head into the great unknown.

After some strategizing mixed with a little bit of patience, SUCCESS! 🎉 We got him safely contained.

We are SO incredibly thankful to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter for taking this guy in and getting him the care he needs. ❤️

Another injured kitty off the streets and somewhere safe. ✌🏻

We’re holding a mandatory staff meeting. But nobody knows what the meeting is about. And nobody knows who is in charge. Several employees have fallen asleep. One employee is actively chewing on another employee.

Productive? Nope.
Adorable? Absolutely.

🎉 BIG NEWS FOR WEST PARIS 🎉

We've got approval to start moving cats through spay and neuter in real numbers. Ten to fifteen a week at Rescue Charlie's Friends in Woolwich, plus slots at an upcoming community cat clinic with Rozzie May Animal Alliance, with more clinics planned after that.

Every cat gets fixed, vaccinated against rabies, treated for parasites, ear tipped, and returned to its colony. 🐾

💉 Why the rabies piece matters? With confirmed cases in our area recently, every unvaccinated animal living outdoors is a gap between wildlife and your family and your pets. Getting these cats vaccinated is real protection for this community, not just for the cats.

It's also the only thing that actually stops the numbers from climbing instead of chasing the same problem year after year.

🙏 Thank you to Rescue Charlie's Friends and Rozzie May Animal Alliance. Neither one had to take this on, and this does not happen without them.

Now the hard part. 😅

There are hundreds of cats out there across more than two dozen colonies in this town, and right now it's just me. I can't trap, feed, care for, and drive that many cats by myself. Not a chance.

So here's where you come in. 🙌

🐈 VOLUNTEERS
I need people to help trap, people to feed and care for cats before and after surgery, and people to drive to the clinics and back. Some animal welfare or handling experience is preferred, but it is not required. If you're brand new, just say so on the form. I'll train you.

🏠 SHELTERS AND RESCUES
Not every cat out there is feral. Some are friendly, some are kittens, some were somebody's pet once. If your organization wants to be notified when adoptable cats come out of these colonies, get on the list.

Share this if you can't volunteer. Somebody on your friends list can. 🔁

Let's fix this. 🐾

🐾 Stevie and Jude are now available for adoption🐾

These two sweet 4-month-old babies are looking for a home together! ❤️

They are a bonded pair who have grown up relying on each other, and they’re happiest when they’re side-by-side. They are also very shy, so they’re going to need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time.

They may not be the kittens who immediately run up and climb into your lap. Instead, they’ll need someone willing to let them come out of their shells at their own pace. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, we’re looking forward to watching these two blossom into confident, happy little cats.

If you’re looking for two kittens who can grow alongside you and you’re willing to give them the time they need to feel safe, these two might be your perfect match. ❤️

They will be available to an indoor-only home and will be adopted with a strict no-declawing agreement. They are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, treated for parasites and microchipped.

If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire found here:

Last week, we rounded up this sweet mama and her three spicy little kittens. After a slumber party at the Ranch, the whole crew headed off to Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland to start the next chapter of their adventure.

A few days later, we got the news that
THERE WAS A FOURTH KITTEN!

Apparently, this little sneaky girl had decided she wasn’t ready to check out of her solo Airbnb just yet.

We set up a trap as a feeding station and, after a little patience (and a dish of tuna), we were able to catch her yesterday! 🎉

She got her very own slumber party at the Ranch last night and was delivered to Animal Refuge League this morning, where she’ll be reunited with Mom and her siblings. ❤️

Four kittens accounted for. Family reunited. Case closed. 🙌🏻

That face!

We have had no interest in Marbles and we can't figure out why, he is the best guy! He is looking to be the only cat in a home, but gets along fine with dogs, rabbits, and small animals in his current environment.

He would make a great addition to a quieter home and needs someone who can give him time to decompress. His current situation has other cats and isn't ideal, he is unhappy and we are committed to finding his perfect person. We are begging for our followers to please share him so we can find that person for him.
