I can’t believe it, but UGLY SWEATER DAY is coming up quickly and we hope your office or business will join in the fun!
Not only will this be a way to spread holiday cheer, but it’s an easy and fun way to support your United Way of Mifflin—Juniata.
As the attached flyer indicates we ask that you let the United Way Mifflin-Juniata office know that your business or agency plans to participate..
Anyone in your office who would like to participate pays $5.00 (just the cost of a coffee shop drink) to the employer.

Donations can be dropped off at our office you can pay online and indicate it’s for the Ugly Sweater Day.
On December 11th those who paid can sport their fun, “ugly” Christmas sweaters; some offices even have contests to see who has the most original, most hideous, or the most holiday spirit.
We would appreciate your group photos of the day as well!

We love helping our community with local celebrations!
You might find us dressed as geese, as an old scary lady telling ghost stories or a woodland fairy you never know!
Thank you to Commissioner Kevin Kodish for organizing the Goose day parade last month, to NuVisions Center for organizing a great Ghost Walk last week and Juniata County CYS for the fun Trunk or Treat, and of course the Lewistown Halloween Parade last night.
We live here, we work here, we serve here.

Help with home heating costs is available!

As colder weather approaches, Huntingdon County United Way wants our neighbors to know about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Applications for the 2026–2027 season open November 2, 2026, and run through April 23, 2027.

Eligible households may receive a grant of $200 to $1,000 to help pay their heating bills. LIHEAP grants do not have to be repaid. Crisis assistance may also be available for households facing a heating emergency.

Both homeowners and renters may apply.

You do not need to receive public assistance or have an overdue heating bill to qualify.

One of United Way of Mifflin Juniata fabulous partners - The Mifflin County Library:
Storytime is a Tradition
Several of our young parents who are now attending storytime have shared that they remember attending storytime as a child with their parent(s) here at Mifflin County Library. They speak fondly of their memories of coming to storytime and want to share the same experience with their children. These parents who attended storytime as children have fostered a love of reading as well as a love for the library because of their experiences during storytime. They are excited to not only create new memories through library experiences but also instill a love of reading and a love for the library in their child(ren) that will last a lifetime.

The old slogan "Have a Heart-Heat a Home" still rings true today.

Contributions to this important program can be sent to the United Way of Mifflin Juniata. We were able to assist 38 total households last year and are hoping to have the funds help again.

Juniata-Mifflin County Shop with a Cop (SWAC) is a memorable relationship building experience between local law enforcement and the children of Juniata and Mifflin counties. SWAC provides nominated Juniata and Mifflin County children with an opportunity to be paired with local law enforcement to shop for themselves and family members during the holiday season.

Shop with a Cop of Juniata and Mifflin County is in its sixth year of existence. Shop with a Cop takes children who were victims of crime, financial hardship or other unfortunate circumstances shopping for Christmas. This program is designed to provide children a chance to shop for themselves during the Christmas Season thanks to donations like yours. The children get paired with a police officer from their area and receive $100 to shop.

Donations from area businesses determine our success. Please consider becoming a sponsor of our event. Unlike most fundraising organizations 100% of your donation goes to help these children right here in our area.
Shop with a Cop is partnered with the United Way of Mifflin Juniata, a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency and assisted by many other local organizations.

Please make checks payable to Juniata-Mifflin Shop with a Cop or SWAC. Donations can be either mailed to 13 E. Third Street, Lewistown, PA 17044 or dropped off at the United Way office or any Juniata Valley Bank.

A huge THANK YOU to the Mifflintown Lions Club for the kind gift to the United Way of Mifflin Juniata!
Contributions to the Mifflin Juniata United Way go to programs in 14 LOCAL agencies and to important initiatives like the Nurse's Pantry for our area schools and our Mifflin Juniata Energy bank.
