In April of 1861, Abraham Lincoln called for volunteers to become the first defenders of the Civil War. A militia company of 92 men called “The Logan Guards” traveled from Lewistown to Washington DC to answer Lincoln’s request. As the original “Logan Guards” marched to the train station in Lewistown on the way to Washington, the song “The Girl I Left Behind Me” was played by a fife and drums. This piece is an arrangement that includes that song called “Brighton Camp March”.
