In fact, we believe they are essential to developing sound policy and finding real solutions for Lake County.

Data centers are driving conversations across Florida—but with a rapidly evolving industry comes a lot of information, questions, and competing perspectives.

A busy day today at Lake 100. Thank you to everyone who joined Lake 100 for our October Member Lunch and an informative discussion focused on the local referendum questions voters will see on the November ballot.

-Lake 100 was honored to welcome special guest Congressman Daniel Webster today and honor his many years of dedicated public service, leadership, and commitment to the people of Lake County and the State of Florida.

-Lake County Schools, along with representatives from UF Health and AdventHealth, provided attendees with information and context on the education and healthcare measures on this year's ballot.

The discussion gave Lake 100 members a chance to hear directly from local leaders, ask questions, and better understand the issues ahead of Election Day.

Lake 100 is committed to creating opportunities for fact-based conversations that help our members stay informed about issues affecting Lake County’s businesses, residents, and future.

A CUP Means MORE Regulation. Not Less.

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding a potential data center CUP in Lake County. Without additional regulations, small and medium-sized data centers could potentially develop by right under existing zoning when Lake County's moratorium expires.

Lake 100 believes this issue deserves facts, not misinformation or division. We've released a public statement explaining the risks, current regulations, and how a CUP can provide additional safeguards.

We are more than the businesses we represent. We are your neighbors, your friends, and your fellow residents. Lake County's future matters to us, too.

What is Lake 100? We’ve been asked that question a lot lately—and we think it’s worth answering.

Lake 100 is made up of people who live here, work here, raise families here, own businesses here, volunteer here, and invest in this community. We value Lake County and care deeply about what its future looks like.

That’s why we research the issues, ask hard questions, welcome different perspectives, and engage in the policies that will shape our community for years to come.

We won’t always agree. Iron sharpens iron. But we believe good information, civil discourse, and thoughtful policy should rise above the noise of the moment.

We will continue doing the research, having the difficult conversations, and focusing on what matters most: a strong, resilient future for Lake County.

Lake 100 has submitted a letter supporting Lake County’s development of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) process for data centers.

Supporting a CUP process does not mean supporting every data center. It means supporting a legal process that allows Lake County to research each proposal, understand its impacts, establish appropriate safeguards, and determine whether it is a good fit for our community.

Technology is changing rapidly, and the data centers of the future may look very different from those being developed today. A CUP process creates room to evaluate new technologies, evolving best practices, and changing infrastructure needs rather than making broad decisions based solely on what the industry looks like today.

Our goal should be simple: do the research, establish standards, support our community's priorities, and maintain the ability to evaluate responsible opportunities as they emerge.

A thoughtful process gives Lake County the ability to protect what matters today without closing the door on what may be possible tomorrow.

Lake 100 continues to bring the private-sector perspective to the conversation surrounding Lake County’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan.

Through our Comprehensive Plan Advocacy Initiative, our working group has reviewed the proposed plan through an economic development lens and recommended pausing submittal until after the November election results, allowing potential fiscal impacts to be better understood before advancing a long-range plan.

We have also advocated for additional economic development components to help ensure the plan supports Lake County’s ability to attract investment, create jobs, and remain economically competitive as our community grows.

Throughout this process, Lake County staff and leadership have been receptive to our analysis and willing to work collaboratively with our team. We appreciate the opportunity for continued dialogue and to provide private-sector feedback as the plan evolves.

Our work continues as the team researches proposed policies, reviews updates, and provides recommendations throughout the process.

This is advocacy in action—bringing expertise to the table, working collaboratively, and helping shape a stronger economic future for Lake County.
