Our newest little kitten came in on Friday from the U of I vet school. He is 3 days old, weighs only 130 grams, and so far is eating great!

Did you know that most rescues do not have the training, time, or resources to care for neonates? They are the most at risk for euthanasia in a shelter setting. Luckily, as a veterinarian, I have the skills to save these vulnerable kittens. Every year at Cattails Feline Rescue we take in anywhere from 60-100 newborn orphan kittens. These babies require a lot of care and feeding every 2-3 hours for the first few weeks! (No sleep for us!) Most of our neonates come from the University of IL Vet School after people find them as orphans.

So far this year we have taken in 16 neonatal kittens from the vet school!
Kitten Season started early this year too.
We are currently having a Kitten Shower to raise $ and supplies to help us raise all these little babies!

Kitten season has started early this year! We have already taken in 15 neonatal kittens since mid March. Today we took in a mom with one kitten and a day old orphan to add to our menagerie.
