McLean County Supervisor of Assessments will be at Living Well on September 10th at 6:00pm.

BLOOMINGTON – (August 25, 2026) The McLean County Supervisor of Assessments will soon begin publishing assessed value changes and township equalization factors for the 2026 assessment year, McLean County Chief County Assessment Officer Timothy Jorczak announced today. Over the next two weeks property owners in most of McLean County will begin receiving notices of assessed value, with the remaining townships - Bloomington, City of Bloomington, Downs, and Old Town - receiving notices in the mail beginning the final week of September.

Providing notice of values, effective for property taxes payable in 2027, is the first step in the property tax cycle. Taxpayers will have thirty days from the date of publication to file a complaint with the McLean County Board of Review.

Like last year, property assessment notices will arrive in the mail in one convenient bi-fold mailer. The mailer will contain information on the parcel’s current and prior assessed value, as well as information on the property tax cycle and contact information for their local township assessor. The mailer will also contain QR code links to learn about exemptions and the assessment complaint process.

New this year, property owners will have the added ability to opt in to receiving assessment notices electronically. “This is a program we’re really excited about,” Jorczak said. “We’ve always been focused on being cost-friendly to taxpayers, while maintaining our commitment to transparency. This is another step in that direction.”

In order to help inform taxpayers about these notices and educate the public about the details of the assessment process, the McLean County financial offices will once again be hosting informational sessions for the public at the following dates and locations:

September 3, McLean: Mount Hope-Funks Grove Parks District Building, 107 N. West Street, 6:00 P.M.
September 8, Lexington: Lexington Community Center, 207 W. Main Street, 6:00 P.M.
September 10, LeRoy: Living Well United Center, 209 W. Washington Street, 6:00 P.M.
September 14, Normal: Normal Community Activity Center, 1110 Douglas Street, 6:00 P.M.

Taxpayers are invited to come and learn about how property values are developed, how and why the equalization process is done, and how to file a complaint before the county Board of Review, as well as learn about deductions that may be available. Taxpayers who have suffered damage from this year’s
severe weather will also have the opportunity to learn about what relief may be available to them. McLean County Treasurer Rebecca McNeil and McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael will also be on hand to help answer questions.

“My colleagues and I really enjoy the opportunity to get out into our communities and to engage with taxpayers,” Jorczak said. “We know property taxes can be confusing, so we take every chance we can to help de-mystify the process.”
