It's hard to believe it's been eight years since The Salvation Army responded to the Merrimack Valley Gas Explosion. After over-pressurized gas lines caused a series of devastating explosions and fires across Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover, Massachusetts, EDS teams from across New England stepped up to help with food, hydration, and social services for displaced residents and first responders. We remember those whose lives changed after the event.

EDS Update: Our EDS partners from The Salvation Army Haverhill Corps are providing beverages and snacks to displaced residents of today’s 5-alarm blaze in Lawrence. We are working with American Red Cross of Massachusetts and other emergency management partners to identify future needs for displaced residents.

LAWRENCE — A man was rescued Sunday afternoon after a massive, five-alarm fire ignited in a multifamily home in the 400 block of Haverhill Street.
