Congratulations to this year's 8th-grade essay contest winners! Each year, Rio Grande Rotary partners with the Rotary Club of Las Cruces as we challenge young people to think critically about the 4-Way Test. These bright writers bring passion, talent, and of course fun to 4-Way Test as it applies to their own lives. Congrats to all the winners!

Today we welcomed Officer De La Garza of the Las Cruces Police Department. Officer De La Garza is a founder of the Southern New Mexico First Responders Assistance Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting first responders injured in the line of duty, as well as the families of those responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We thank Officer De La Garza for sharing his story, his passion, and his vision for a world where first responders and their families never suffer financially in those moments of fear and grief.

Welcome back Nicole Martinez, executive director of Mesilla Valley Community of Hope! Community of Hope meets the needs of people experiencing homelessness and housing instability through housing-first supportive services. As they expand services and deepen partnerships with other nonprofits, agencies, and offices, Nicole keeps her eye on the most important goal: "We want to remind people experiencing homelessness that people care, and to meet them where they're at, because we don't want people dying on the street." Thank you Nicole and the entire Community of Hope team for the care you provide for our neighbors.
