We’re proud to partner with Annie E. Casey Foundation on the release of the 2026 KIDS COUNT® Data Book. This year’s report uses trusted national and state data to show how children and families are faring across the country in economic well-being, education, health and family and community factors. The newly enhanced KIDS COUNT index now includes scores alongside rankings, offering a clearer picture of how child well-being is changing over time within each state. Visit aecf.org to download the report and explore the latest data.

We join communities across Wyoming in mourning the loss of our friend, Linda Barton.

In 2007, Linda established the Wyoming Afterschool Alliance (WYAA), a priority fund at WYCF, to support and promote quality, education-based out-of-school time programs that positively impact Wyoming’s youth and families. The effect of her work is felt throughout the state today. Linda retired from WYAA in 2019. Linda’s vision, drive and focus on afterschool, combined with her commitment to serving children in Wyoming elevated afterschool programs across the state. She left the field stronger and with more tools to make a difference in the lives of all the children that passed through the doors of their programs. Even after her retirement, her dedication and passion for building a better Wyoming were evident in her advocacy work. Linda was the Founder and Chair of the League of Women Voters of Fremont County and President of the League of Women Voters of Wyoming.

If you knew Linda, you knew all the wonderful things about her. Linda had a great sense of humor and a fondness (passion) for shopping, shoes, and jewelry. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. She loved her dogs, her kids, and her husband- Mike. Linda started at WYCF as a champion for afterschool programs, but more than anything, she was our friend, and we will miss her.

To honor Linda, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to:

Wyoming Community Foundation's 5 to Thrive campaign is encouraging people to leave 5% of their estate to local nonprofits — and the potential impact is huge. With billions expected to transfer in the coming years, even a small portion could create lasting support for communities across the state.
