Subject: Supporting New Muslims in Your Community (Training Opportunity)
As Salaamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
I pray this message finds you well.
My name is Imam Samir Ismail, and for several decades I have been actively working with new Muslims across various communities, focusing on helping them transition into Islam in a practical, sustainable, and grounded way.
Through this experience, I have consistently observed that while many masajid sincerely welcome new Muslims, there is often a lack of structured support systems to guide them through their early stages. As a result, many reverts struggle with overwhelm, inconsistency, or disconnection.
In response to this need, I have developed a structured training program called:
The Revert Mentor System
This training is designed to equip individuals and communities with practical tools to better understand, support, and retain new Muslims — without overwhelming them.
Some of the key areas covered include:
Understanding the mindset and early stages of new Muslims
Addressing common challenges and confusions
Teaching essential practices in a simple, sustainable way
Building support systems within the masjid
I am currently reaching out to masajid and community leaders to explore ways this training can support your local efforts.
You may consider:
Sponsoring one or more individuals from your community to take this training
Strengthening or formalizing your current revert support efforts
Identifying individuals who can serve as consistent points of contact for new Muslims
Even having 1–3 trained individuals can make a significant difference in how new Muslims are supported and retained.
Additionally, even in communities where some level of revert support already exists, this type of structured training can still bring added clarity and consistency. It may also be beneficial for an Imam or a member of the administration — particularly those who may not have personally experienced the revert journey — to review or participate in the training, as it offers practical insights that are often not covered in traditional study.
