Promoting the arts in and around Langhorne, PA, for over 30 years. Welcome!

Langhorne Council for the Arts (LCA) is dedicated to providing creative outlets and fostering an appreciation for the arts in the Langhorne community. For the past 15 years, LCA has been actively bringing the arts to the community through a wide variety of events, including the Arts in the Garden Tour, Arts & Jazz Brunch, Community Art Projects, World Music concerts, and much more! LCA provides scholarships each spring to students in the 6th-11th grade who have talent and passion in the visual and performing arts, and who need support for enrichment activities.

Drivers stuck in traffic at the corner of Route 413 and Wi******er Avenue in Langhorne Borough now have a beautiful new mural to enjoy and contemplate! Langhorne artist Jean-Marc Dubus has turned an ugly traffic control box into an attractive 4-sided mural that expresses an important message: Langhorne is a welcoming place. The concept grew out of conversations between members of a committee representing Langhorne Council for the Arts, Historic Langhorne Association, Bethlehem Amec Langhorne, and Langhorne Borough Council: What makes Langhorne a special community? The answer: history, tradition, education, religion, diversity, and patriotism -- elements of life that bring residents together, regardless of gender, age, race, or ability.
This mural was sponsored by Langhorne Council for the Arts and funded by a grant from Penn Medicine CARES. Thank you, Jean-Marc Dubus, for creating this beautiful mural!

The stage is set at Middletown Friends Meeting at Langhorne! There are only two things missing: the actor and you!

On Thursday, Oct 15, 7 pm, actor Mark Povinelli will embody Benjamin Lay, the most fiery and most outspoken fighter against slavery. His outrageous actions got him thrown out of Quaker meeting in England and all around Philadelphia. Now he’s asking to rejoin the Friends.

“The Return of Benjamin Lay” is a riveting story of passionate adherence to one’s deeply held beliefs. Following the performance, the audience will engage in a conversation with the actor and the author. You are invited by Middletown Friends and the African American Museum of Bucks County to attend this free event. Light refreshments will be served.

What an AWESOME day tomorrow will be! First, the Borough's Time Capsule. Then, Langhorne Porch Fest!
All fun, all free!

TIME CAPSULE BURIAL CEREMONY

On Saturday October 10th, just before the annual Porch Fest, the 150th anniversary committee will bury a time capsule, generously donated by the Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, at the Richardson House to preserve the Borough's history for future generations. In fifty years, the capsule will be unearthed so people can see how we celebrated Langhorne Borough's sesquicentennial.

The time capsule burial begins at 11:30am.

We are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to submit their suggestions and donate items for the time capsule. Thanks to you, we have a wonderful assortment of items that capture the essence of the Borough at this moment in time!

"Finding Beauty in the Textures of Life”
Wednesday, October 21st
4:00-6:00 pm

This collage & writing workshop will be led by the accomplished and charismatic artist, Justin Bursk.

This event will be held at the Volta Center for Writing Arts, located in the Bucks County Community College Library, Newtown Campus, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, Pennsylvania 18940

This generative workshop will explore the beauty and serendipity found in everyday encounters. All levels of experience are encouraged and welcomed!

Fee for this workshop: $15
Students, Seniors & Veterans: $10

BCCC students: free of charge
