We’re looking forward to our upcoming White Mountain Riding Club Group Trail Ride on the Presidential Rail Trail!

📍 Meet/Park: Mount Washington Regional Airport on Airport Road at 10:00 AM
⏰ Ride Out: 10:30 AM
🐴 Trail: Presidential Rail Trail

Please see the parking map for the designated trailer parking area. We have permission to park near Airport Road. Please stay within the designated area and well away from the runway and airport operations.

The ride will include a short section of road before accessing the Presidential Rail Trail. Once on the trail, the footing is mostly flat, packed crushed stone.

The Presidential Rail Trail is a busy multi-use recreational trail, so expect to share it with walkers, runners, strollers, bicycles, dog walkers and e-bikes. Please be courteous.

🐴 Trail Etiquette: We realize that you may encounter manure from previous riders on the trail, however, if your horse needs to relieve themselves, please move them to the side of the trail when possible. If they go on the traveled portion, please take a moment to get off and kick the manure off to the side. We need to be courteous to others who utilize the rail trail. Also safety reminder to please leave space between you and other horses. We don't need anyone getting kicked.

Parking Etiquette: Before leaving the airport, clean up around your trailer and take all manure, hay and trash with you. WMRC biosecurity rules apply to all club events.

🍁 It should be a beautiful time of year for this ride. We’re looking forward to great horses, great company and some gorgeous White Mountain fall scenery!

🍂🐴 WMRC’s Last Trail Ride of 2026! 🐴🍂

There’s nothing quite like a fall trail ride in the White Mountains! 🍁

Join the White Mountain Riding Club on Saturday, October 10 for our final trail ride of the 2026 season. Grab your horse, enjoy the fall air, and come spend the day on the trails with fellow horse people. Whether you’ve joined us throughout the season or this will be your first WMRC ride, we’d love to have you!

🐴 Saturday, October 10, 2026
🍁 Meeting at the Mount Washington Airport in Whitefield @ 10am, Ride out at 10:30am

As always, riders should come prepared for the weather and trail conditions and bring what you and your horse need for a safe, comfortable ride.

Let’s get one more ride in before winter takes over! 🍂🐴

Membership is only $5 for individual or $10 for a family and it is super simple to join. We will be accepting new memberships on the day of the ride.

🐴🍂 One Last Ride… and We Want to Hear From YOU!

Our last WMRC trail ride of 2026 is October 10! 🍁 It’s hard to believe we’re already wrapping up another riding season.

As we start looking ahead to 2027, we want to hear from our members. What would you like to see the club offer next year? More trail rides? Clinics? Fun shows? Practice days? Educational events? Obstacle challenges? Something completely different? Send us your ideas! Even if it’s something we’ve never done before, we want to hear it.

And a little reminder as we start planning: WMRC activities only happen because members volunteer. ❤️ Ideas are wonderful, but we also need people willing to help turn those ideas into actual events whether that means helping with planning ahead of time, setup, registration, cleanup, or lending a hand on the day of the event. You don't have to take on an entire event by yourself. Many hands really do make light work AND we can't do it alone!

👻🐴 WMRC OCTOBER CHALLENGE: THE SPOOKY OBJECT! 🎃🍂

October is spooky season… but how brave is your horse? 👀

For this month’s WMRC Challenge, find ONE object your horse hasn’t encountered before and spend up to 30 minutes introducing it.

It could be an umbrella ☂️, pool noodle, tarp, stuffed animal, noisy bag, can with rocks in it, strange hat, Halloween decoration—or whatever you can dream up!

You can work in-hand or under saddle.

🎯 The goal: This challenge is about gently stretching your horse’s emotional endurance. Simply put, that means helping your horse learn to handle a little uncertainty without becoming overwhelmed.

Give your horse a chance to notice the object, think about it, and discover that they can stay calm and work through those unsure feelings.

This is NOT about forcing your horse to touch, walk over, or “conquer” the object. Give them time to look, move their feet, investigate, and process.

Success might simply mean your horse finishes a little calmer, a little more curious, or a little more confident than when you started.
