Can you feel it? Fall is right around the corner. Some kiddos are already back in school, fresh blueberry season has come to an end, and the Lancaster Fair opens next week!

We are in the height of the harvest season and have tomatoes galore from several farms in our Marketplace. If you are a canner, or just really love tomato sandwiches, you can stock up and save 15% when you buy 10 or more pounds. Mix and match among farms is welcome. Stop in and be part of your local food system today!

Hard to believe we are in our last week of summer camp! Our Explorers session headed out this morning on their first adventure! We have quite a week planned and are hoping the weather cooperates. We will end the week with a campout on our Lunenburg campus.

Our Explorers session was on hiatus the last couple of years, but we are grateful that we are rolling once again thanks to our recent van purchase, which will really open up our options for programming AND make it easier to pick up farm goodies from further afield without playing the weekly game of “who is traveling where and when, and can you pick up for us?” As much fun as that was, it added a lot of planning and logistical work to our already full plates.

Our first farm pick up will be this afternoon on our way back from Pisgah - corn from Shawn & Sara | Gingue Family Farm | Fresh Beef, Pork & Chicken and fresh veggies and a CSA from Roots Too Farm! Make sure to add corn to your dinner plans. ETA at our Marketplace is 4:30 ☺️

Our Luna camp session wrapped up yesterday after a magical week. We packed a lot in - from fire making and group challenges to hikes and swimming to making herbal tea and bouquets to singing around a campfire and sleeping under the stars in tents. This was a pretty special group of girls who have left behind their laughter and voices and energy, forever embedded on the new land.

We are grateful to everyone who has donated to our NH Gives campaign so far. With our in-person and online donations, we have reached $2,395 (our goal is $3,500). We are grateful! The event officially closes at 5:00 tonight, but we are accepting donations through the end of the week either through our website or in person. We love getting children outside year round exploring and learning about nature, digging in gardens, and cooking delicious food. Your support will help us expand these opportunities on our new campus in Lunenburg starting this summer.

A quiet, early morning at the Lancaster Community Garden with only a Robin keeping a watchful eye. The garden is looking great. Lots of folks have been planting their gardens, the front perennial flower beds are slowwwwly coming back to life, and the 4H crew from Heartwood returned yesterday to help a bit more with the wood chip walkway! Thank you!!

Our Food Access beds are coming along. Potatoes are getting hilled, snap peas are getting ready to be trellised, and wax beans went into the ground this morning. Each year we reserve 6 beds where we plant veggies for the Lancaster Community Cupboard and are always looking for volunteers to help tend to and harvest them over the growing season. Give us a shout if you are interested in helping out with veggies or flowers (or both) - [email protected]. Volunteer hours go toward Thank you Thursdays at our Marketplace - a discount benefit for our volunteers as a way of saying Thank You! 🥰
