Ruff Patches is an all volunteer-run animal welfare and advocacy organization. Ruff Patches is dedicated to keeping pets in homes! We provide food to low income pet owners, provide behavior support and veterinary support when we have the funds. Of course, we also rescue homeless animals and find them new, loving homes. We hold adoptions at Petsmart at 47th St.

💤Being in management is exhausting. Just ask Manawa.

While I spent the evening working on Ruff Patches business, Manawa graciously volunteered to supervise.

Her contributions included:

🐾 Reviewing absolutely nothing.
🐾 Offering zero constructive feedback.
🐾 Occupying valuable workspace.
🐾 Falling asleep approximately three minutes into her shift.

Meanwhile, I continued working under what I can only describe as extremely relaxed supervision. 😂

Despite her questionable work ethic, Manawa has awarded herself an outstanding performance review and requested a substantial raise in treats.

I'd file a complaint with HR, but apparently she's in charge of that department, too. 🙄

All kidding aside, there's something pretty wonderful about having this little girl curled up beside me while I work. Even when the to-do list seems endless, she reminds me why we do what we do. ❤️

Anyone else have a supervisor who sleeps through their entire shift but still expects full compensation?😹

🚨 BREAKING: The Ruff Patches Department of Unreasonable Demands has concluded its emergency budget meeting, and the results are in.

Andy, Manga, Castiel, Manawa, Sherlock, and Jean Grey have unanimously rejected all proposed spending limits. Their counter-demands? Unlimited food, premium litter, and "more toys" (no further specifics provided, though Castiel was very clear that his current toy is still perfectly good, thank you very much).

🚨 AUDITION RESULTS ARE IN 🚨

Watson tried out for the role of Ominous Halloween Cat this year, and... well, let's just say he didn't get the part. 🖤

Instead of a menacing soul-stare, he got distracted by a bird. Instead of summoning spirits, he summoned treats. And instead of looking terrifying, he just looked really, really cozy.

The good news? While Watson is hopeless at being spooky, he's exceptionally qualified for a much better role: Beloved Family Cat. At 4 years old, this calm, sweet, and playful boy is ready to trade Halloween auditions for a forever home with comfy sleeping spots, regular playtime, and all the affection he can handle.

Ruff Patches is proud to announce our newest Employee Training Program, led personally by Andy - permanent resident, senior supervisor, and world-class supervisor of snacks.

Course Objectives:
📵 Put down the phone
✋ Maintain steady petting contact (minimum 20 minutes)
📋 Accept constructive performance reviews (usually delivered via slow blink)
🍑 Report promptly to the Butt-Scratch Department when summoned

Unauthorized stopping will result in a formal incident report and an extremely disappointed stare.

Andy's been a beloved part of our sanctuary family for years, and while he's not up for adoption (he's earned permanent tenure!), he still needs your support to keep living his best supervisory life.

Ayesha does not "sit." She holds court. 👑

One paw extended like she's waiting for someone to bring her grapes, her eyes fixed on a subject far beneath her (that would be us), Ayesha has reviewed her pink throne and found it acceptable. Barely. The rest of the staff (meaning everyone) is currently on probation.

If you have a cat, you already know this energy. The 3 a.m. announcements. The disappointed stare when dinner arrives four minutes late. The chosen spot that must never be sat in by a human again. We see you, fellow servants.

Here's the happy part: Ayesha is one of our permanent residents, which means she'll never be up for adoption. She's safe, spoiled, and reigning here for life. Exactly as she believes she deserves.

Director of Quality Control -Jean Grey, age 6. Outgoing, curious, and fully committed to inspecting every corner of the house on arrival. No task too small, no cardboard box unturned.

Director of Trust & Cuddles - Bereet, age 6. A little more reserved at first, but once she warms up? Prepare for full-time snuggle duty. She takes her role very seriously.❤️

These two have been are sisters and come as a set. Bereet is FIV+ and Jean Grey is FIV-, but don't let that worry you: FIV is mainly spread through deep bite wounds, so friendly cats like these two can safely live (and cuddle) side by side.

Meet Charity, Ruff Patches' resident Queen of Judgment. 👑

She doesn't do drama. She doesn't do small talk. What she DOES do is silently assess every single thing you do from across the room and somehow, you always come up short. Oh, and her voice? Pure raspy lounge singer. Like she's been doing two-shows-a-night at a smoky piano bar since 1974.

But Charity's true calling is toy huntress. Every night, she stalks, catches, and delivers her "prey" straight to the bedroom, gift-wrapped in pure feline pride. She did provide for this family. A little gratitude would be appropriate.

Charity is a permanent resident here at Ruff Patches. She'll never be adopted out, which means she'll always call our sanctuary home. That also means she'll always need YOUR help to stay safe, spoiled, and fully stocked with prey to hunt.

🚨 CATNIP CRIME SCENE 🚨

Castiel would like to state, for the record, that the Yeowww! catnip ball was already defective when he found it. He was simply "helping" open it. What happened next - the shredding, the scattering, the full-body rolling, the eating of evidence - was, in his words, "just good citizenship."

He shows zero remorse. He also happens to be one of the most playful, talkative, and affectionate cats we've met in a long time. This guy has a BIG personality, and he needs someone experienced with cats who can appreciate his antics while helping him polish up his manners.

Castiel is looking for an adult-only home where he can be the star of the show (which, let's be honest, he already believes he is).
