I would like to help start up a Legal Observer Group in Plant City. If you know anyone who loves or works in Plant City who is interested in helping document what is happening to immigrants, please give them my contact information, and I will reach out to them. You can also contact me if you are interested in joining the Polk County group. You can also give them my phone number if you have it, even though I am not posting it here. [email protected]

These ARE the candidates you're looking for… because they actually want to meet you.

May the Fourth seems like the perfect day to remind everyone:
The Force is strong with grassroots organizing.

Over the weekend, Indivisible Polk helped progressive local candidates connect directly with voters, because democracy works a whole lot better when candidates leave the Death Star and actually talk to people.
One of the best parts of events like these is that YOU get to:
✔ meet candidates face to face
✔ ask questions
✔ have conversations
✔ decide for yourself who is serious about serving the community

And wow, did this community show up:
📝 Over 550 individual candidate petitions signed this weekend!

Reminder for anyone nervous about signing: Signing a petition DOES NOT lock you into voting for that candidate later. It simply helps get them on the ballot so voters have actual options. It can cost between $1,700 to more than $10,000 to get onto the ballot!

And the cost to participate?
$0. A rare and beautiful price point in 2026.

We still have more petition packs and individual petitions available, so if you'd like to sign, send us a message, and we’ll find a place to meet.

Help us build the rebellion one signature at a time.

What is May Day?

A day recognized across the world for workers, solidarity, and people power.

A day to remind those in power that communities matter more than corporations.

This year, Indivisible Polk is celebrating:

MAY DAY, OUR WAY ✊❤️

Because we know many people can’t afford to miss work right now.

So instead of asking for a strike, we’re asking for something just as powerful:

✔ sign petitions to help grassroots candidates get on the ballot
✔ donate or request mutual aid
✔ support local businesses
✔ build community with neighbors

Little actions matter.

Join us May 1–3 across Polk County. If you are interested in signing petitions but can't get to us, let us know how we can get a pack of petitions to you!!!

A link with more May Day information, and links to know more about these events, will be in the comments.

DeSantis will be in Lake Wales! Come out and voice your concerns
PLANTS OVER POLITICS: KEEP BOK TOWER APOLITICAL!
🗓️ Date: Wednesday April 15th
⏰ Time: 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM
📍 Location: 1201 Burns Ave, Lake Wales, FL 33853 (Intersection of Burns Avenue and Tower Blvd)
Governor Ron DeSantis will be in Lake Wales this Wednesday to present a statue of Calvin Coolidge at Bok Tower Gardens. This is a part of the American 250FL initiative which has a stated goal of educating students about historical figures in conservative politics. Although Coolidge was present at the initial dedication of Bok Tower, he had no hand in its development. He also championed political and economic policies that paved the way for the 1929 market crash and depression that followed. He also initiated the strictest immigration policies with quotas according to nationalities focusing on keeping Southern and Eastern Europeans out. In addition, this move by the Governor is a break from the long standing norm of keeping Bok Tower apolitical. The CEO of Bok Tower is retiring in June, and a political move like this when there is an upcoming leadership change is highly concerning for the future of the gardens; the jewel of Lake Wales.
✅ In response, Indivisible on the Ridge will be hosting a visibility event this Wednesday April 15th from 2:30 PM - 3:45 PM while the presentation of the statue is taking place. The focus of the event will be demanding that Bok Tower remain apolitical, but since the governor is also an advocate for other authoritarian tendencies (banning books, building detention centers, anti-LGBTQIA+ etc) please feel free to bring signs that raise awareness to any of his harmful policies. As members of the community, it is our duty to voice our dissent of any would be fascist that comes into our area. This event will not be posted on Mobilize, so please see above for details.

On Friday, April 10th, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend and valued member of Indivisible Polk, Carolyn Bowman.

Carolyn was a vibrant, strong, and unforgettable presence. Someone who cared deeply for others and showed up for her community again and again. Whether she was helping at events, supporting mutual aid efforts, or serving as a Legal Observer, she made sure people felt safe, seen, and welcomed.

She spent her early years in Chicago, where she worked as a cheerleader for the Chicago Bears, bringing that same spirit, energy, and enthusiasm into everything she did with us. Carolyn had a way of lifting others up, creating joy, and building connection wherever she went.

The world lost a truly beautiful soul. Her kindness, generosity, and loving nature will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.

We are holding Carolyn’s family in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time and respectfully ask for privacy for them as they grieve.

She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. 💔

Visibility is more than being seen, it’s being affirmed, protected, and celebrated. Today, and every day, we honor the strength and resilience of the transgender community.

You are seen, you are valued, and you are loved. 🏳️‍⚧️
