On Saturday, June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress determined the design of the American flag. Their adopted resolution reads:

"Resolved that the flag of the thirteen united states be 13 stripes alternate red and white, that the union be 13 stars white in a blue field representing a new constellation."

Flag Day was officially proclaimed by President Wilson in 1916 to be celebrated on the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777. It was President Truman, however, who signed an Act of Congress on August 3, 1949, establishing June 14 as Flag Day in the United States.

Leadership requires effective communication. The best ideas a leader may have will fall flat if not communicated with clarity, precision and passion. So, you're not great as a communicator? Relax, you CAN get better! Make it a priority! It's just a thought.

The Supreme Commander of the Allied forces during WW2 and the 34th US President should certainly know something about leadership! Perhaps that is why Ike underscored the critical role of integrity in the life of a leader. It's just a thought!

This is Memorial Day weekend in the U.S.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Its origins trace to the aftermath of the Civil War, when communities across the country began holding local ceremonies to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. The first national commemoration was held at Arlington National Cemetery on May 30, 1868.
Take a moment this weekend to reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice some have made in defense of our freedoms.
