Thank you to those who joined us today at Heritage Park for the sugar cane festival, breakfast, and market. A little rain didn’t dampen our enthusiasm and we appreciate everyone’s support. We hope to have a larger crop next year for all those who enjoy the juice and the stalks too!

Our neck of the woods will see more changes coming...

During its Oct. 20 meeting, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners approved a $2.1 million agreement with Patel, Greene and Associates, LLC for engineering services for the Kathleen Road widening project from Duff Road to U.S. Highway 98 in Lakeland. The first phase of the project will evaluate widening and new alignment options to help address future traffic demands.

If you were not at Heritage Park tonight, you missed a wonderful Evening of Songs & Stories by Jennifer Bush! Thank you , Jennifer, and to those who attended. We sang along and welcomed many new folks to our neck of the woods.

Do you have a hankerin' for some freshly mfg. sugar cane syrup? Then, you will want to join us on Sunday, November 1 at Heritage Park for our annual cane grinding and syrup making event held in partnership with the monthly Heritage Harvest Farmers Market.

Start the day with breakfast served from the Community Building between 9 and 11 a.m. Then amble on over to the cane shed, set-a-spell to watch and learn about this sweet pioneer tradition with sugar cane grown at Heritage Park. Syrup available for purchase along about 1 p.m. Then, stay with us and enjoy the market until 5 p.m. with local vendors, live entertainment, children's activities and more!
