Housing instability doesn’t always look like homelessness. Sometimes it looks like a parent doing everything they can and still falling behind.

And that’s why community matters. When we walk alongside families during difficult seasons, we help provide the encouragement, connection, and practical support every family needs to move toward greater stability.

We are blessed to know these families and to walk alongside them. Their strength, perseverance, and love for their families inspire us, and they remind us that 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, especially during the hardest seasons.

Meet Jason Twu, the newest member of our Young Professional Board! 👋

If you’ve spent any time around Lighthouse recently, you’ve probably seen Jason lending a hand. He joined us for every single weekend of our Evanston Home Transformation Days, jumping in wherever he was needed and consistently looking for more ways to help.

And that’s just who Jason is. He genuinely loves serving others, he’s a team player and he’s always willing to pitch in.

We’re so excited to have him bringing that heart and energy to our Young Professional Board!

🏠 Moving Day is almost here! 🙌

Join us on September 12th as we help welcome the family in our one-year housing program into their newly renovated home in Evanston!

And moving day isn’t just about moving boxes. There are so many ways you can help make this house feel like home: assembling a bed frame, stocking the pantry, folding and putting away clothes, helping with the final touches around the house or simply praying over the home with the family. 💙

On September 12th, a special family will begin Lighthouse's first one-year transitional housing program, moving into their newly-renovated temporary home in Evanston. We want to help them start this new chapter with everything they need.

Refer to the image for a list of move-in essentials they will need for the move. Let us know if you can donate any of the items listed, or know someone who can. Every little bit helps a family feel truly at home!

Here are the clothing sizes the family will need:
-Youth jeans sizes 10 and 18
-Youth shirts sizes 8 and 14
-Kids' shirts and pants sizes 4T-5T

Leanne's grandmother always lit up when the family would come together for dinner on Sundays. It took Leanne decades to learn why: behind that joy was a lifetime of feeling like she had to earn love from a family that was never quite hers.

Our Program Manager carries that story with her every day - and it's part of what led her to Lighthouse.

Have you ever been given a second chance after royally messing up?

If we're honest, most of us have.

Today we're sharing the first story in our new Stories of Hope series. In Second Chances, our Community Engagement & Volunteer Lead, Krista Skiffington, reflects on her own journey through addiction, failure, grace and the unexpected ways God used the people around her to remind her she wasn't beyond hope.

Working at Lighthouse has taught her that the message we extend to the families we serve is one we all need to hear: no one is too far gone, no one is beyond redemption, and healing rarely happens alone.

This is the first in a series of three stories, each highlighting a different Lighthouse staff member and the experiences that have shaped why we do what we do.
