HEART is an interdenominational training center designed to prepare people to live and serve effectively in developing communities around the world -- communities facing the stark inadequacies of global health and economic development often in the midst of war,

famine, and hunger. Located in subtropical Florida, HEART operates a village community that simulates many aspects of living in the developing world. Students reside in the village and are provided the opportunity for hands-on application of the many valuable skills integrated into HEARTS's curriculum. In addition to practical and technical skills, participants acquire problem solving and coping skills that will enable them to adapt more readily to the challenges they will face working overseas with non-profit and community development organizations as well as schools, churches, and other missions organizations. Provides hands-on experience in addition to classroom studies. Semester (15 weeks) and short-term (3 weeks) programs include gardening, nutrition, primary health, small animal husbandry, appropriate technology, cross-cultural communication and community development, College credit may be earned, matching scholarships available, international students welcomed, must qualify for 1-20 visas.
