August 31 - Remembering the End of Operation Iraqi Freedom

We can't let the month end without pausing to remember the service, sacrifice, and loss connected to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

We honor those who deployed, those who came home forever changed, the families who carried the burden alongside them, and especially those who never made it home.

For many veterans, the end of a war does not mean the end of its impact. Memories, grief, trauma, and invisible wounds can remain long after the mission is over.

At VOW22, we believe remembering must also mean standing beside those who served. We are committed to helping veterans and their families find support, healing, and hope when the weight of service becomes too much to carry alone.

Today, we remember. We honor. And we remain here for those who served.

Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps Reserve!

Today we honor the men and women of the Marine Corps Reserve, who stand ready to serve our nation while balancing careers, families, communities, and the call to duty.

Reservists embody commitment in a unique way. They may serve part time, but the sacrifices, responsibilities, and challenges that come with military service are very real, and they can continue long after the uniform is put away.

At VOW22, we are proud to stand with Marine Corps Reservists, veterans, and their families by providing support, connection, and resources when life’s battles become heavy.

To every Marine who has answered the call to serve: thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment. Semper Fi.

Today we honor the brave men and women of America’s Airborne forces, whose service has always required extraordinary courage, discipline, trust, and a willingness to step into the unknown.

That same courage can be required long after military service ends.

At VOW22, we know that veterans and their families may face battles that are not always visible. Asking for help, reaching out, and choosing to keep moving forward can take tremendous strength.

On National Airborne Day, we salute those who have served from the skies and remind every veteran that you do not have to face life’s toughest moments alone.

Today we honor the Navajo Code Talkers, whose courage, ingenuity, and service helped change the course of World War II.

These remarkable Marines used their native Navajo language to create a military communications code that enemy forces were never able to break. They carried critical messages through some of the Pacific’s most dangerous battles, helping protect countless lives and contributing immeasurably to our nation’s victory.

For years, much of their story remained classified and their extraordinary service went largely unrecognized. Today, we have the privilege and responsibility to remember them.

At VOW22, we honor the Navajo Code Talkers not only for what they accomplished, but for what they represent: courage, sacrifice, service, and a willingness to use their unique gifts in defense of something greater than themselves.

To the Navajo Code Talkers and their families, thank you. Your language became a weapon for freedom, your service helped protect a nation, and your legacy will never be forgotten.

National Agent Orange Awareness Day — August 10

For thousands of Vietnam veterans, the war did not truly end when they came home.

Exposure to Agent Orange has left lasting health consequences for many veterans, with effects that have touched spouses, children, and entire families for generations. Today, we remember those sacrifices that were not always visible and honor the veterans and families who continue to carry them.

At VOW22, we believe supporting veterans means caring about the whole person and the whole family, including the wounds and struggles that may appear long after military service has ended.

To our Vietnam veterans and their families: we see you, we honor you, and we have not forgotten.
