Tuesday Rotary Talk 😉....

Today, Lake Butler Rotary Club was honored to welcome our District Governor Bo Norton for an engaging and informative visit focused on the heart of Rotary and the impact we can make together!

Governor Norton touched on several exciting topics, including grant opportunities that help clubs like ours bring meaningful projects to life, the Paul Harris Fellow program that recognizes outstanding contributions to The Rotary Foundation, and a brief history of Rotary, which began in 1905 with a simple idea: bringing people together through service and fellowship.

Governor Norton recognized Lake Butler Rotary Club for all our contributions and projects to our community, like our Remembering Our Heroes Flag project and our annual 4th of July Celebration. He also discussed Rotary’s incredible commitment to ending polio worldwide through its global eradication efforts—a powerful reminder of what can happen when people unite around a common purpose. 🌎💙

Thank you, District Governor Bo Norton, for sharing your knowledge, encouraging our members, and reminding us that Rotary is about more than meetings and Tuesday's fried chicken 😉. It’s about building relationships, creating opportunities, and making a lasting difference in the communities we serve.

Monday Rotary Member Spotlight:

Meet Mr. Bob Driggers...

Mr. Bob grew up in Lake Butler, where he saw firsthand from his own father and many other community leaders how Rotary strengthens a community.

After 24 years in the U.S. Army, and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, Mr. Bob still proudly served as a program manager for a small defense contractor before finally retiring in 2023. But retirement hasn't slowed him down. This year he hopes to travel, visit some family and increase his scripture reading time.

Mr. Bob joined Rotary in Madison, Alabama, in 2000 and later returned home to Lake Butler, where he continues his commitment to community service.

Mr. Bob has been married to his beautiful wife, Janet for over 50 years, the true meaning of commitment. Bob is a proud father of their three daughters and ten amazing grandchildren. When he’s not spending time with family, or tasting and judging pies at the Lake Butler Rotary's annual July 4th celebration; he stays busy supporting his church, the American Legion, the Union County Tigers Quarterback Club, and the Union County Historical Society, where he serves as treasurer.

Bob’s hope for Rotary is simple: to help our community grow, welcome new members—especially younger generations—and continue making a positive difference in Lake Butler.

Thank you, Mr. Bob, for 26 years of service above self to Rotary, your leadership, and your dedication to our community, it is truly unwavering! 💙💛

Location change!

🎀 IMPORTANT LOCATION UPDATE - BREAST CANCER AWARENESS LUNCH 🎀

In the interest of the safety and comfort of our guests, we are moving our 5th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon to the Lake Butler Hospital Professional Center.

💗 NEW LOCATION: Lake Butler Hospital Professional Center (previously Badcock Furniture)
📍 710 E. Main St., Lake Butler

🎀 While the location is changing, all the fun we have planned is still on! We’re looking forward to an afternoon filled with inspiring speakers, breast cancer awareness and education, great food, giveaways, and time together as a community. 🎀

Please help us spread the word and share this post so everyone knows about the new location! Parking will be available across the street (follow signs the day of the event) or at the Hospital with shuttle service available to the Professional Center.

💥💥 Also don't forget - the UF Cancer Institute Mobile Screening Bus will be onsite for tours. It will return on October 15th to conduct screenings and mammograms (appointment required). Call 352-740-4667 for more information or to schedule your mammogram for October 15. 💥💥

At Rotary, we believe strong communities are built through thoughtful conversations about the future of the place we call home.

Today, Rotarian Margo, brought us a very special guest. Meet Candidate Marshall Rawson, Republican nominee for Florida House District 10.

Today we learned how Marshall brings a fresh perspective grounded in agriculture, protecting Florida’s farmland and rural communities, supporting Florida families, and preserving the heritage that makes our state unique.

He explained to us how his priorities reflect a belief that Florida can embrace economic opportunity and responsible growth without sacrificing the land, traditions, and character of our rural communities. He believes in putting Florida families first, protecting our communities from overdevelopment, defending constitutional rights and preserving values that have shaped our state.

From Marshall's perspective, preserving Florida isn’t about standing still — it’s about protecting what matters while creating opportunities for the next generation. Marshall spoke about the agriculture, population growth, econmical development over the years and how its effecting our state and the precious land we all love.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to hear his perspective, ask questions, and engage in meaningful civic dialog.

Today, Rotarian Jennie Reed welcomed her guest speaker Mrs. Pam Whittle, President of the North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Pam shared valuable insight into the Chamber’s role in supporting local businesses, strengthening our local economy, and connecting businesses and community organizations with resources and opportunities.

She highlighted the importance of collaboration, community involvement, workforce development, and supporting local businesses as we continue working toward a stronger community.

We appreciate Pam taking the time to join us and share her knowledge and passion for our community. She even shared some exciting news coming soon to Starke (but that's our little secret 😉).

Her message was a great reminder that when businesses, organizations, and community leaders work together, we can create meaningful opportunities and positive change throughout our communities.

Rotary Guest Speaker of the week!

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome Rotarian Art's guest speaker Ms. Laura, from Congresswoman Kat Cammack's staff. Laura shared an informative and engaging presentation about Congresswoman Cammack, who proudly serves Florida's 3rd Congressional District. We were educated about her mission, and the positive impact of her work in our community.

Laura's presentation gave members a better understanding of Representative Cammack's goals, a peak into her current projects and engaged in questions on how Representative Cammack could support our community better. Laura shared the core values Representative Cammack supports for women through dignity, empowerment and serving as the Chair of the Republican Women's Caucus.

We appreciate Laura for taking the time to join us and share her knowledge and insight with the Rotary Club of Lake Butler. She left us with a gentle reminder to get out and vote in November because every voice matters.
