Across Louisiana, more than 1.4 million adults live with an arrest or conviction record that limits access to jobs, housing, and education.

On November 7 from 9 AM to 3 PM, join the Justice Reform Initiative (JRI), The Clean Slate Initiative (CSI), and the Criminal Justice Club of SUNO

at the SUNO Auditorium, 6400 Press Drive, New Orleans LA 70126 for a Free Expungement Clinic — a day of restoration, opportunity, and second chances.

Our team is preparing materials, coordinating volunteers, and getting ready to serve the New Orleans community. This clinic will provide free document preparation, personalized expungement counseling, and professional legal support to help residents across all parishes clear their records and start fresh.

🚨 It’s Official!

We’re proud to announce that the Justice Reform Initiative, in partnership with the Clean Slate Initiative and the Criminal Justice Club of Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO), will host a FREE Expungement Clinic on Saturday, November 7 from 9 AM – 3 PM at the SUNO Auditorium, 6400 Press Drive, New Orleans, LA 70126.

This clinic is open to all parishes and provides free document preparation and expungement support to help community members take the next step toward a clean slate.
Walk ins welcome — RSVP encouraged. Call us to find out whether you qualify for an expungement.

The Justice Reform Initiative (JRI) is an approved pro bono CLE provider in Louisiana.

At our August 1st Expungement Clinic in Saint Martinville, we proudly highlight two of our incredible team members — Angela Gordon, our dedicated Volunteer Outreach Director, and Ladeva Francis, our Volunteer Assistant Intake Coordinator.

Together, they ensured every participant was welcomed, guided, and processed efficiently. Their teamwork, professionalism, and calm leadership kept the clinic running smoothly and helped community members take meaningful steps toward a fresh start.

Justice Reform Initiative Expungement Clinic – Saint Martinville, LA

At our August 1st Expungement Clinic in Saint Martinville, Attorney Joilynn Hollies, our expert volunteer attorneys, guided clients through the final steps of their expungement process. Behind her, Southern University Law student Roderick Jackson observed closely to learn how to support clients after their expungements are completed — ensuring they understand their next steps for filing and restoration.

We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the Southern University law students who stepped up to serve, learn, and contribute to expanding access to justice. Your dedication strengthens our mission and uplifts the communities we serve across Louisiana.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Xavier Chapman & Tiffany Williams 🌟

We’re proud to recognize Xavier Chapman, J.D. Candidate at Southern University Law Center (Class of 2027), and Tiffany Williams, Southern University Law student, for their outstanding volunteer service at our Saint Martinville Expungement Clinic.

Xavier, who previously supported our Opelousas clinic, returned to assist alongside Tiffany and other Southern University Law students—helping organize completed expungement motions for attorney review and client consultations. Their professionalism, dedication, and compassion embody the spirit of Justice Reform Initiative’s mission to restore hope and opportunity through second chances.

More than 1.4 million adults in Louisiana still face barriers due to old records that appear on background checks. Our clinics help remove those barriers by providing free, personalized expungement document preparation to individuals ready for a fresh start.

We extend heartfelt thanks to Xavier, Tiffany, and all our volunteers for their commitment to justice and community empowerment.
