Resource!

Home modifications can help people remain safe and independent in their homes and communities — but finding reliable information about available resources can be challenging.

Recently updated with support from the Administration for Community Living, the Home Modification Information Network (HMIN) is a free online resource that provides information on programs, funding opportunities, service providers, and more.

Users can search by topic and location to find relevant home modification resources in their area.

Share your lived experience and help make a difference in the fight for equity! The best way to make sure services are working for people is to listen to them and hear what they need.

Apply to volunteer for the Washington State Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues & Employment (GCDE) to serve on a committee that works to achieve equity for people with disabilities.

The GCDE is seeking new members, including its next chairperson, to serve 3-year terms. The application deadline is Oct. 13, 2026. Learn more at https://esd.wa.gov/about-us/news-release/2026/state-committee-seeks-passionate-leaders-serve-disability-community

Because Friday was just the start of this supposed El Nino Season, and the power is likely to go out again, here are some reminders to make sure everyone is prepared and safe!

🌧️💨☔️🔦

In addition being prepared with flashlights, snacks, blankets, batteries and/or portable chargers and any backup power sources needed for medical equipment is equally important.

Sometimes the power going out can be kind of fun, but make sure you have what you might need ready so it's not stressful or unsafe!

Many people in our community are experiencing power outages. Here’s four things to know during a power outage to keep your family healthy.
1. Use generators far from your home, in open, well-ventilated areas, NEVER inside.
2. NEVER use charcoal grills or gas stoves inside for cooking or heat.
3. Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed. Food can stay safe for a limited time if they stay cold.
4. Throw away any spoiled food if they get above 40°F. For a list of foods and their safety information, visit https://www.foodsafety.gov/food-safety-charts/food-safety-during-power-outage
