Kids Need to Read joins children, families, educators, authors, and literacy advocates everywhere in remembering a remarkable champion for books and the belief that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading.

Dolly understood that a book can be more than a story. It can be a doorway to imagination, a source of comfort, a spark for a dream, and the beginning of a lifelong journey.

Her generosity put millions of books into children’s hands and helped generations discover what is possible when you open a book.

Her story may have come to an end, but the stories she helped place in children’s hands will continue. 📚❤️
