What a wonderful afternoon celebrating the volunteers who make our mission possible! 🎉

We simply couldn't do what we do without the incredible people who generously give their time, energy, and heart to help animals in need. From caring for shelter pets and fostering, to answering phones, helping at events, fundraising, transporting animals, and tackling countless behind-the-scenes tasks, our volunteers are the driving force behind everything we accomplish.

Thank you for showing up, lending a hand, and sharing your compassion with the animals who need it most. We hope you enjoyed today's Volunteer Appreciation Party as much as we enjoyed celebrating YOU!

Hi, I'm Emmy, a beautiful 4-year-old grey and white tabby with a big personality and an even bigger heart! I adore giving kisses, curling up for snuggles, and soaking up all the love I can get from my favorite people. I'm friendly, playful, and get along wonderfully with other cats, making me a great fit for a multi-cat home. Meet Mugsy ❤️🐾

This sweet 3-year-old boy has already been through so much, but you’d never know it from his loving personality. Mugsy came to us with a fractured pelvis. After 6 weeks on strict cage rest, his x-rays showed considerable improvement and he continues to make progress every day!

Even while recovering, Mugsy has remained incredibly affectionate. He absolutely loves attention and is a professional head-butt giver.

Mugsy still needs a little more recuperation time, medication, and will require another follow-up x-ray, so a foster-to-adopt home would be ideal for him right now. He’s looking for a calm, quiet home where he can continue healing while being showered with the love he deserves.

🏁 McQueen would much rather be cruising through Radiator Springs than waiting at The Humane Society of Oldham County.

Named after the beloved star of Cars, McQueen’s story has a few similarities to his famous namesake. After losing the only home he had ever known through no fault of his own, he arrived at the shelter feeling a little unsure of himself and understandably on-edge.

Since then, McQueen has calmed into an incredible dog. This 6-year-old gentleman has proven that a little “powdered sugar” on his face doesn’t slow him down one bit! He loves showing the younger dogs that age is just a number when it comes to playing hard and having fun.

When it comes to people, McQueen is the definition of chill. He’s a handsome boy with excellent leash manners, a giant fluffy head made for petting, and a calm, affectionate personality. He knows how to keep all four paws on the ground, sits politely for meals, and is both house-trained and crate-trained. He’s also an excellent passenger in the car.

McQueen has met children at several of our events and has been gentle, tolerant, and happy to accept all the love and attention they had to offer.

Whether your home is active or laid-back, whether you have kids, dogs, both, or neither, McQueen has the kind of adaptable, loving personality that fits just about anywhere. He’s ready to make one lucky family incredibly happy.

This stunning 4-year-old tabby is as regal as her name suggests. With her gorgeous striped coat and striking emerald green eyes, Clearopathra has a presence that’s impossible to ignore.

Clearopathra came to us from a hoarding situation where she was living among more than 50 other cats, without the care and attention every cat deserves. She carries herself with quiet confidence but has a soft, affectionate side reserved for her favorite people.

Clearopathra would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace and finally experience what it means to be truly loved.

Looking for a little 2000’s nostalgia? The Airbuddies are BACK and better than ever at The Humane Society of Oldham County! Except this time they aren’t Golden Retrievers, they’re 11-month-old Great Pyrenees mixes… and there’s only four of them… but that’s okay!

Rosebud (top left), Mudbud (top right), Budderball (bottom left), and B-Dawg (bottom right) are true movie stars ready for their big debut into forever homes of their own!

Let’s see how our pups compare to their movie look-alikes:

🎬 Budderball:
Not very similar to his movie counterpart because he is NOT obsessed with food and does not act tough one bit. Budderball is actually a giant softie who firmly believes his life purpose is leaning against your legs for head rubs and affection.

🎬 Mudbud:
Has not yet had the chance to test out his mud-loving reputation. We cannot confirm nor deny whether he dreams of becoming filthy, but we CAN promise he’ll head home squeaky clean thanks to a complimentary bath before adoption!

🎬 B-Dawg:
A basketball-loving pup with a larger-than-life personality? Honestly… pretty accurate. B-Dawg is obsessed with our jumbo balls at the shelter and somehow manages to fit nearly an entire one into his mouth.

🎬 Rosebud:
The only girl of the litter, known for fashion and soccer in the movie series. Also surprisingly accurate! Rosebud is absolutely stunning and loves running and playing outside with her brothers, especially a good game of ball with B-Dawg.

🚨 Urgent Need for Jackson! 🚨

We have some wonderful news. Someone stepped up and offered to foster our long-term shelter resident, Jackson!

Jackson has very strict dietary needs which can be difficult to manage in a shelter environment. While our staff and volunteers do everything possible to give him enrichment and extra time out of his space (including supervised playtime in our kitchen and hallways), he still spends far too much of his life confined.

This foster opportunity could be life-changing for him, but to safely manage his diet in a multi-pet household, his foster would need a microchip feeder. Do you have a microchip feeder collecting dust that you'd be willing to donate?

Jackson deserves this chance more than words can say. Thank you for helping us give him the happy, comfortable foster home he's been waiting for! ❤️
