A big thank you to Jill Cabai for stopping by LDRC today to visit with the Caloosa Creativity camp kids! She brought pizza, shared a little about what it means to be a judge, and answered the kiddos’ questions about the justice system.

The kids also had the chance to tell her all about what they’ve been learning during Seminole Week, making it a meaningful afternoon of history, community, and civic learning.

We are so grateful for community members who take the time to invest in our youth and help them better understand the people, places, and systems that shape the world around them. Thank you, Jill! 🍕⚖️

Swamp Cabbage Creativity Week is officially underway, and our young artists are hitting the ground running!

We started the week by starting our historic architectural journals, diving deep into the rugged tales of early Florida cattle drivers, and beginning construction on our very own miniature Cracker homes.

Stay tuned to see how these pioneer projects turn out!

Huge shoutout to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office for providing a safety buffer while our junior architectural preservationists surveyed and sketched the historic buildings along Bridge Street!

We couldn’t have done this field study without our your protection! 🚔🏛️📝

Day one of Caloosahatchee creativity camp was a hit as young ornithologists studied local birds, including LaBelle's official Cattle Egret, and visited Baron Park Library. They deepened their exploration with an in-depth study of the legendary John James Audubon. They are having an amazing time combining science, history, and art!

Places from the past, preserved for the people of the future.

The Captain Hendry House reminds us that preservation is not about standing still. It is about giving history purpose.

The LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation is here to help carry LaBelle’s history forward, one meaningful place at a time.

Thank you to Jennifer Summerlin from One Eleven Photography right here in downtown LaBelle for these amazing photos!

🌲Trail update from our newest board member, Bryan Sweetman!

Bryan is almost two weeks into hiking the Appalachian Trail with 160 miles behind him and about four more weeks to go.

He sent us a few photos from the trail, and they were too good not to share.

Keep going, Bryan. LaBelle is cheering you on!

Big news for LaBelle!

The LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation is proud to share that the historic Captain Francis A. Hendry House has been selected for the 2026 Florida’s 11 to Save list by the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Captain Francis A. Hendry House was nominated by LDRC as part of our ongoing efforts to support the preservation and future activation of this important historic property.

Florida’s 11 to Save program highlights endangered historic places across the state and helps bring awareness, advocacy, technical support, and preservation guidance to sites with significant cultural and community value.

This recognition is a major step forward for the Hendry House and for the future of historic preservation in LaBelle. It brings statewide attention to a place that tells an important part of our community’s story and strengthens the momentum already building around its future.

Thank you to our board, the City of LaBelle, community partners, and everyone who continues to support the effort to preserve and reimagine the Captain Francis A. Hendry House.

We are grateful to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing the importance of this property and for the opportunity to be part of the 2026 Florida’s 11 to Save program.
