What a wonderful place to call home...

Not everyone gets to see these turbines from this vantage point!

We captured this video while flying to Kodiak village communities during our Housing Action Plan work. We wanted people who were interested in participating to be given that chance, no matter where they lived.

There are new ways to get involved serving our island community with KEDC. We are welcoming applications for our Board of Directors, the Kodiak Housing Action Partnership, and our newly created Career Connections Partnership.

One might be a fit for you, or maybe someone you know. So perhaps share this post with them?

In August, through support of an RCAC grant, KEDC held an hands-on training. We created Confidence Café in response to what we learned at the Kodiak Workforce Forum we held in April. At that event businesses and local employers shared a need, and we worked to support a way to help with what we heard.

If you are interested:
1. You can read more about what the training provided
2. Be part of continuing this work

KEDC has two open seats on our Board of Directors, and we invite community members to consider helping guide our work in Kodiak.

Board members help set priorities, oversee resources, and well as support the partnerships that move our work forward. Your experience of living and working here can bring valuable perspective to those decisions.

Our latest article looks at what Board service involves and the work KEDC has advanced over the past two years. You can also read about the priorities guiding our next steps in housing and workforce development.

Members attend monthly meetings and are encouraged to contribute a total of two to four hours each month, including preparation and work between meetings.

Our applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with upcoming Board consideration planned for October and November.

KEDC welcomes you to visit our office Friday, Sept 4 from 5 to 7pm, as we host Art Walk for the first time.
Local artist Gloria Selby has been working to put together her art installation, which includes many new pieces shown for the first time. She & her friend Linda did an incredible job putting things together. KEDC is pleased to host these beautiful scenes from life here in Kodiak. Come by and meet Gloria, members of the KEDC and Arts Council board, as well as other people in our community.
We are located upstairs, Suite 201A, in the blue building that shares the Kodiak Marketplace parking lot & next door to Kodiak Social.

We would like to share a no-cost to attend customer service training. This is a great opportunity for those newly employed in public facing roles, as well as students and those just entering the workforce.
We want to help those employees as well as employers be confident so that our locals get the best service possible.
This is not a sit and listen training, but an interactive workshop. Business owners and managers are also invited.
Special thanks to Bean & Bloom for being our Business Sponsor.
