🍂 WELCOME TO GRATITUDE & GIVING MONTH 🍂

Let's name it plainly: times are hard. Groceries cost more. Gas costs more. And if you're parenting or caring for a loved one with special needs, everything costs more: therapies, co-pays, specialized care, time off work, and the supports that make daily life possible.

We see that. And it's exactly why this month matters.

All November, ASAETC is focused on three things:

💛 Saying THANK YOU to every donor and every volunteer who carried this community through 2026
🧩 Helping families prepare for what comes next, including our Dani Plan Info Session on December 3
🤝 Keeping East Tennessee connected through our FREE Autism Social Scene and community fundraisers like Blaze Pizza night on November 18

Yes, we'll also be asking for support. Gently, and honestly. If you're able to give, your gift is how we provide programs and resources to families across our 36 counties. If you can't give right now, we understand completely. There are other ways to show up, and we'll share them all month.

November is here, and we want to start it honestly.

This year asked a lot of many of us. Prices are up. Waitlists are long. And for families raising autistic and special needs loved ones, the cost of care, therapy, and simply getting through the week keeps climbing.

So this month, we're not pretending everything is easy. We're choosing gratitude anyway. Not the forced kind. The real kind.

Gratitude for the people who show up. For the progress no one else sees. For a community that keeps choosing each other.

All month long, we'll be saying thank you, sharing tools to help you close out the year, and making space for rest.

What are you holding onto with gratitude this season? We'd love to hear it below. 💛

Every Step Counts. Every Gift Matters.

It's October 31. And here's the truth: acceptance doesn't end today.

This month we said it out loud: awareness was the goal for years, and it got us here. But the numbers keep growing, the spectrum keeps widening, and autism isn't going anywhere.

So what are we going to do?

We're going to keep opening doors. Keep building bridges. Keep helping families carry what they carry.

Thank you to every business that took a step, every provider who followed up, every caregiver who joined us and started writing down what they know. You are what acceptance in action looks like.

We know times are hard. 💙

Acceptance in Action isn't a one-month project for us. It's the work we do all year: support for parents and caregivers, connection through the Autism Social Scene Meetup, workshops, and resources for families across our 36-county region.

If you're able to give, every little bit helps. If you're not able right now, sharing this post, coming to a Meetup, or telling a business or provider about us helps just as much.

Autism is an invisible condition. The Tennessee Autism Awareness license plate makes it visible where it matters: an immediate identifier for first responders that a specialized care need may be present.

And every plate is a way to contribute to our mission and programs. Safer for your family, stronger for our community. That's a win/win for everybody.

Your next tag renewal is a perfect moment to ask for it at your local county clerk's office. Can't wait? You can make the change now.

Acceptance in action can be as simple as being ready for a moment you hope never comes.

Acceptance in Action: three groups, three first steps.

🏪 Businesses: Share what to expect. Ask, don't assume. Offer a quieter option.
🤝 Providers: Keep info current. Use plain language. Follow up.
👨‍👩‍👧 Families: Write down what only you know. List who you trust. Gather your key documents.

Pick one. Do it this week.

Awareness opened the door. Acceptance walks through it.

"You know... so what are you going to do?"

That's the question we've asked all month. And it's the one that matters most.

Here's where we've been:

🏪 If you're a local business: share what to expect, ask "How can I help?", offer a quieter option, say yes to accommodations, and ask autistic customers what they need.
🤝 If you're a resource provider: keep your info current, explain your process in plain language, follow up, and connect families to each other.
👨‍👩‍👧 If you're a parent or caregiver: write down what only you know, list who you trust, gather the key documents, and take one step toward planning ahead.

For years, awareness was the goal. It got us here. But the numbers keep growing, the spectrum keeps widening, and awareness alone is no longer enough.

Acceptance means action. And action doesn't have to be big. It just has to be real.

👇 Comment with ONE thing you're going to do this week. We'll cheer you on.

Awareness opened the door. Acceptance walks through it.
