The East Kinston Neighborhood Hub is a community-rooted space for resilience, connection, and opportunity.

Powered by Kinston Teens, the Hub reimagines blighted land into a vibrant center for culture, collaboration, and climate justice. Our commitment to the community led us to envision and create the Neighborhood Hub project—a dynamic initiative designed to uplift and serve our beloved East Kinston neighborhood. Kinston Teens has been working since 2018 to create the Neighborhood Hub--a place for youth-led and neighborhood-focused initiatives, with resources, activities and community spaces by and for the residents of East Kinston. The Neighborhood Hub is more than just a physical space; it's a vibrant hub of community activity, empowerment, and hope. It's a place where youth, families, and neighbors come together to learn, grow, and create a brighter future. We’re excited to lead a planning process to work with our community to chart the future of the Neighborhood Hub site, and opportunities for equitable development in East Kinston.

This summer, our Doris Theon Hardy Resilience Garden continued to grow into a vibrant community space where neighbors of all ages can learn, connect, and care for one another. With the help of youth participants, volunteers, and community partners, we expanded our raised beds, planted seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, and even harvested produce that was served during our monthly Sunday Dinner. We also added a wellness bench and meditation area, creating another place for reflection and restoration at the East Kinston Neighborhood Hub.

As we head into the fall, we'll continue hosting volunteer workdays, educational workshops, and community gardening activities as we work toward our vision of making the garden a hub for food security, environmental education, and neighborhood resilience.
