Camp Inspire Day 2

Today our campers got a hands-on look at the world of forensic investigations and crime scene processing. Students learned from crime lab professionals about how evidence is collected, documented, and analyzed to help solve crimes.

The highlight of the day was working a mock cold case murder investigation. Campers examined evidence, followed leads, and worked together to piece together what happened in this fictional case. It was a great opportunity to see how teamwork, critical thinking, and attention to detail play a major role in solving cases.

Day 1 of Camp Inspire 2026 is underway!
Today, our campers got an inside look at some of the specialized units within the Kinston Police Department. They learned about the important work of our SWAT Team, met our K-9 officer and their partner, and explored how drones are used in modern law enforcement.
It's been a great day filled with hands-on learning, questions, and experiences that give these young people a better understanding of public safety and the professionals who serve our community.
A big thank you to all of the officers and staff who helped make today a success. We can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings!

Tonight our Kinston Police Explorers worked on marching and drill formations while learning the importance of teamwork, discipline, and communication. These skills help build confidence, leadership, and professionalism both in law enforcement and everyday life.

Our Explorers continue to put in the work and improve every meeting. Great job tonight everyone!

Camp Inspire 2026 – Sign Up Now!

Looking for something exciting and different this summer? Camp Inspire is back and ready to give middle and high school students a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and first responder careers!

Dates: June 16–18, 2026
Who: Middle & High School Students
Hosted by: Kinston Police Department

Throughout the three days, participants will get hands-on experience with real-world scenarios, meet officers and first responders, and learn what it takes to serve the community. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in law enforcement, public safety, or just trying something new.
